SYNOPSIS

This class is the follow up to Audacity 101. Participants will need to be proficient enough with Audacity to self-produce an audio commercial with voiceover, music and sound effects.  The production work will take place in class using materials (script, music and sound effects) provided by the Voiceover Lab.  You will need to have Audacity downloaded and operational on your computer to participate in this class, as you will be actively learning to mix various pieces of audio and understand the fundamentals of audio production..  For the inspired, the curious and those that are all about D.I.Y., this class provides the foundation for producing voiceover demos.

This class will be instructed by Mike Varela (Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab Audio Engineer/Booth Director + Owner of Nuancetone Boutique Audio)

REQUIREMENTS

This is not an Audacity beginner class.  However, if you do not have the recommended level of experience using Audacity software, but would like to audit (attend class as a viewer that can ask questions), email ashuford@sagftra.foundation and request to be an auditor.

This is a skill building, interactive and hands on class. Completion of Audacity 101 at the DLF VO Lab OR experience using Audacity or other audio recording software/DAWS is required.  Prospective participants (those on the Waitlist, as well) may be emailed additional questions to help us verify your knowledge of Audacity.

Participants must be proficient using Audacity software for recording and editing audio.

Have Audacity downloaded onto your laptop computer.  THE URL: https://www.audacityteam.org  If you already have it ready to go on your computer there is no need to download it again.

Copy will be provided by the Voiceover Lab and emailed the day before the class, so actors can prepare the material they will be reading.

This class is in person and at the new Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab in Los Angeles at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists

5757 Wilshire Blvd. - Suite PH1

Participants must be present for the entire program (see Duration above).
