The SAG Foundation's Don LaFontaine VO Lab is offering this free voiceover workshop for SAG-AFTRA members in Atlanta and surrounding areas!

If you’ve ever had a producer send you a script full of information and ask for a conversational read and the language in the script is nothing like one, this session is for you.

Scripts are mostly written in two styles:

  • Announcer - full of information and often written using very stylised language, and

  • Conversational - supposed to sound like you’re just talking to a friend.

Professional voice actor, teacher and coach, Abbe Holmes, will teach you how to identify the different styles of scripts, how to ‘work out’ what the advertiser’s are driving at, and give you the tricks and techniques for making any style of script sound conversational, connected and engaging.

Once we’ve nailed those, you're going to have some fun with dialogue scripts!

About our guest instructor:

Abbe’s been creating character voices for commercials and animation since the 1980’s.   A voiceover natural, with over 30 years at the top of her field, Abbe’s one of Australia’s most recognised, versatile and popular voiceover actors, known for her skill at connecting the message to the audience.  Her vibrant, natural warmth is heard regularly on TV and radio commercials and when you need a voice for your business that is intelligent and authoritative, you can rely on Abbe to find the right style and delivery.  She also voices the nominations for Australia’s top TV Awards ‘The Logies’.

Check-in begins at 9:30am and the workshop is from 10:00am - 12:30pm.  Please bring your SAG-AFTRA membership card for admission.
