SYNOPSIS
An estranged couple, torn apart by a deportation, must overcome their relationship problems in order to conquer a dangerous situation and the immigration system by an unexpected method.
Lunchtime Shorts is an opportunity to screen a short film and have a Q&A with the filmmakers all within the lunch hour. Come down on your lunch break to watch a film and learn about the filmmakers process in creating the work. Food will not be provided and one cannot eat in the screening room.
PANELISTS BIOS
Israel Gutierrez, writer, director, producer
With a passion for provocative story telling, Iz chose film as his medium after immigrating from Mexico at the age of five. His goal in directing films is to emotionally connect audiences with characters in unique social and psychological situations while also educating about human issues that may have remained as untold stories. Having an innate ability to tackle character driven films and challenges, his abilities as a director continue to be recognized throughout the industry. His short “The Chameleon” (El Camaleón) opened up doors for him and his fellow colleagues with multiple official selections at nationwide film festivals, a Remi Award, as well as landing a licensing deal with the ShortsHD channel that will allow international audiences to explore his creative talent for visual storytelling. His latest film “Sin Frontera” has been selected to an Academy/BAFTA accredited festival, has received an MPSE Golden Reel Award nomination, as well as an official selection to the huge Chicago Latino Film Festival and a handful of other recognized festivals.
Natalie Lam, producer
Natalie graduated Chapman University with a BFA in Creative Producing. She has worked on numerous student films, two of them being television pilots. The positions she has held vary from producing to sound mixing to costumer. In addition to these student film projects, Natalie has been a field producer for productions for WorldbizWatch's “Must See in OC TV” program, a media programming intern for Seacrest Studios, and a production intern at DreamWorks Animation SKG. She has been an acrobatic performer for the Walt Disney Company for three years and is also currently a production assistant/coordinator at Trailer Park Inc.
Natalie Wade, producer
After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Creative Producing at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and a minor in Business Administration, Natalie now works at Management 360. She is originally from Dallas, TX before she moved to California to pursue her dreams in the film industry. After her acceptance to Chapman, she was awarded a Chapman University Presidential Scholarship as well as a Dodge College Talent Scholarship. She has worked on many students films throughout her time at Chapman in various facets; second assistant director, second assistant camera, line producer, unit production manager, producer, etc. Natalie has also interned at Blumhouse Productions, Bandito Brothers, and IM Global. She studied abroad her sophomore year in France and interned at the Cannes Film festival while learning the language and traveling across Europe.
