SYNOPSIS

As Mad Men concludes this month, the SAG Foundation celebrates by hosting a panel with the casting directors. It will be a great time to reflect over the past seasons and talk about the joys, challenges and triumphs of casting this popular show.

PANELISTS BIOS

Carrie Audino & Laura Schiff, casting directors
Laura & Carrie have worked together on various projects for the past fifteen years. They cast Mad Men for seven seasons and won the 2010 Emmy award and the 2009 Artios Award for their work on the show. They currently cast Aquarius for NBC, Turn for AMC, and Bosch for Amazon. They also are currently casting the new Jason Katims show, The Way, for Hulu and are about to start work on season two of 12 Monkeys and season one of The Magicians. Some past projects include Nikita, Boston Public, The Starter Wife, The Nine, and Close to Home, as well as numerous pilots including Parenthood for NBC and most recently the upcoming Jennifer Lopez series Shades of Blue. In addition to Laura and Carrie’s work in television they cast the feature film You Are Here, written and directed by Matthew Weiner. Separately, Laura cast The West Wing for three seasons, which garnered her an Emmy nomination in 2004. Prior to her work in television, Laura cast many independent films including Psycho Beach Party, Buying The Cow and the Shiloh trilogy. Before working in casting Carrie worked as a Unit Production Manager and Production Coordinator in independent film both in New York and Los Angeles. Carrie holds an MFA in Drama from New York University. Laura has a BA in Communications from Stanford University.

Moderated by Debra Birnbaum, Executive Editor, TV for Variety.
