The Screen Actors Guild Foundation and Backstage have partnered on a Conversations series in celebration of the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards nominees.

Join us for our kick-off screening of Olive Kitteridge, Episode One, "Pharmacy," followed by a Q&A with Richard Jenkins, Emmy Nominee for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

Moderated by Bruce Fretts, Closer Weekly.

SYNOPSIS
Olive Kitteridge tells the poignantly sweet, acerbically funny and devastatingly tragic story of a seemingly placid New England town wrought with illicit affairs, crime and tragedy, told through the lens of Olive (Frances McDormand), whose wicked wit and harsh demeanor mask a warm but troubled heart and staunch moral center. Richard Jenkins portrays Olive’s husband, Henry.

The story, which spans 25 years, focuses on her relationships with her husband, Henry, the good-hearted and kindly town pharmacist; their son, Christopher, who resents his mother’s approach to parenting; and other members of their community.

The supporting cast features Golden Globe winner Bill Murray (Lost in Translation) as Jack Kennison, a widower befriended by Olive; John Gallagher, Jr. (HBO’s The Newsroom) as Christopher, Olive and Henry’s son; Emmy nominee Peter Mullan (Top of the Lake) as Jim O’Casey, a fellow teacher at Olive’s school; Rosemarie DeWitt (Mad Men) as Rachel Coulson, a shut-in who is one of Henry’s customers at the pharmacy; and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) as Denise Thibodeau, who works at the pharmacy.

Richard Jenkins - Actor

Academy Award nominated Richard Jenkins is one of the most in-demand character actors in Hollywood, having made over sixty feature films.

Jenkins received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his highly praised performance in director Tom McCarthy's The Visitor.  Richard's performance earned him Independent Spirit Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

Jenkins recently completed filming Bone Tomahawk, directed by S. Craig Zahler.  Recent films include Olive Kitteridge, opposite Francis McDormand, the critically acclaimed HBO mini-series based on The Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Elizabeth Strout . He starred in God's Pocket, directed by John Slattery. Other recent films include Lullaby, and Four Minute Mile. Recent releases include White House Down directed by Roland Emmerich.

In 1997, Jenkins received an Independent Spirit Award nomination as Best Supporting Male Actor for his performance in David O. Russell's comedy, Flirting with Disaster.

On television, Jenkins is best remembered as Nathaniel Fisher, the deceased patriarch of the Fisher family on HBO's immensely successful drama, Six Feet Under.  His occasional appearances as the heart of this often dysfunctional family help earned the cast a Screen Actors Guild nomination in 2002 for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

In theater, Richard has amassed an impressive list of credits as a company member for 14 years at Rhode Island's Trinity Repertory Company and served an additional 4 years as its Artistic Director.
