SYNOPSIS
In this class, Solo Performer, Voice Actor, and Dialect Coach Eliza Jane Schneider (South Park) will teach her technique of Voice Matching, a 3-prong technique that approaches voice through the auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. The class will focus on the auditory aspect, which is conducted through a specific technical looping method. She will offer an excerpt of her documentary theater performance “Displaced,” in which she uses this voice matching technique to bring to life diverse voices from her interviews with people from Lagos to Hong Kong to Liverpool to Whangarei.
INSTRUCTOR BIO
Eliza Jane Schneider
Eliza is an actor (South Park, Finding Nemo, Batman), dialect coach (Eliza Doolittle Dialects School, various film/tv), and voice-match expert (Oliver Stone). She has taught accents and dialects at TrinityRep, SAG-AFTRA Conservatory, and The O’Neill Theater Center among others, and was an invited guest instructor in voice perception at the Voice Studies Graduate Seminar at UCLA. In the corporate world, she has presented on voice, including at the national conference of DRI, the membership organization for defense attorneys. In her field research she has personally conducted thousands of interviews on six continents.
