SYNOPSIS

Portland, OR

This two hour class will include a Q&A and a cold reading session with an experienced casting professional.

Some brief comments about workshops: Jason is a firm believer in everyone's right to teach, as well as an actor's right to choose who to learn from and what that experience should entail. Networking is an acceptable and vital part of the entertainment industry, but workshops are not an employment opportunity and should never be considered as such. They are strictly learning experiences where actors can exercise their craft in a sage and supportive setting. Workshops like this one can help bridge the cap between and actor's training and the real world tools needed to success in this crazy business.

For this event, Jason will share his experience in televion, delving into the world of episodic and pilot casting. This will be a conversation about the business side of acting, preparing and researching for roles, audition techniques, finding confidence and making choices, work ethics, keeping busy and creating original content, maintaining relationships, what to expect and how to prepare for episodic and pilot season, pitfals to avoid, what to do after booking a job, and much more. And, of course, questions are welcomed and encouraged. Scene work will consist of cold-readings of paired scenes in a supportive, classroom setting with other actors as the audience so that everyone can participate and learn from any adjustments or feedback.
