CLASS SYNOPSIS

Led by VO Lab engineer and VO actor Ryan William Downey, this workshop will help students break down copy to identify the architecture of every line. Students will be invited to explore techniques to give more textured and dynamic line readings. Everyone will have an opportunity to perform on mic and to receive feedback.

Participants are welcome to bring copy they would like to work on or select pieces from the binders in the studio. Good for any genre or medium of voiceover, but we will emphasize commercial and animation styles.

All levels of experience welcome!

REQUIREMENTS

Two (2) Solo Booths sessions must be completed.

You will be removed from the RSVP list if you have previously attended this class.

Program Rules

Please note: There will be on-going construction at 5757 Wilshire for the foreseeable future. We encourage you to give yourself extra time to park and enter the building. Enter and exit the parking structure off of Curson Ave. or Masselin Ave. Depending on the amount of cars you may need to park on the top of the structure.

Please note - Elevator Accessibility:
There have been on-going issues with the elevators we normally use at check-in at 5757 Wilshire. One is being replaced, and the other is failing. If you are unable to use stairs, please contact rsvp@sagaftra.foundation to make alternate arrangements to be able to access the Foundation’s screening room or voice-over lab on the mezzanine.

Late arrivals will not be admitted.

Only bottled water with a secure screw top or clasp locking top is allowed. No other beverages or food.

Bring your valid/paid up SAG-AFTRA, or AEA membership card and photo ID to check-in for admittance; payment receipt noting current payment accepted. No admittance will be granted without your current card or receipt.

Guests are not allowed at this program. If that changes, we will update these program rules.

RSVP = You are registered to attend, but seats are NOT guaranteed. Programs are overbooked to ensure a full house.

If you RSVP for this offering and later cannot attend, please remove your name from the RSVP list by midnight prior to the day of the program. Failure to fulfill a RSVPed reservation or arrival after check-in is completed will be recorded as a no-show. For the VO Lab program, two (2) no-shows within 60 days and you will not be able to attend VO Lab classes or reserve studio sessions for 90 days We refer to this as the 2/60/90 rule.

Waitlist = You are not registered to attend the program, but you are added to the Waitlist. If we receive a cancellation and/or you are moved to the RSVP list, your attendance will be notified via email by midnight prior to the day of the program, to give you time to cancel. If you have been moved to the RSVP list and will not be attending, you must cancel by midnight to avoid being recorded as a no-show.

You may also check your status at any time by logging into our website. By signing up for the waiting list you are telling us that you want to attend the program, so if that changes please cancel your Waitlist reservation. You WILL NOT be recorded as a no-show if you are on the Waitlist and do not attend or if you show up and do not get in.

Walk Ins - Walk Ins are welcome (unless otherwise stated in the Program Description), but are not guaranteed a seat. If a seat is still available after the RSVP list and waiting list are admitted then you will be admitted. If no seat is available, Walk Ins will be denied entry. Please exercise courtesy to our staff if this scenario occurs.

When you register for an program you are expected to stay for the entirety of the offering.

Participants should be adults 18 and over. For parents/guardians of minors interested in attending offerings that are not specific to actors under 18 years of age, please contact the VO Lab before joining the RSVP or Waitlist.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation reserves the right to refuse admission or service to anyone.
