SYNOPSIS

The body is part of the actor's instrument and at times it is called upon to change or adapt for a specific role. These group of industry experts will discuss the ways in which performers can learn more about physical training when performing in action films and developing physically demanding characters. Some of the topics that will be discussed include when is physically demanding tasks the job of the actor or when it is the responsibility of the stunt person? What does physical training look like for actors at various age levels? What are healthy ways to gain or lose weight for a role? What are recommendations and tips for actors hired on low-budget films when production cannot afford a trainer? Come join us for what is expected to be a highly thoughtful and engaging conversation.

Harley Pasternak
Pasternak is the top selling fitness and diet author in the world whose books include 5-Factor Fitness, 5-Factor Diet, The 5-Factor World Diet, The Body Reset Diet, Body Reset Diet Cookbook, and his most recent title, 5 Pounds. Harley's titles have attained global bestseller status and have been published in 14 languages in over 25 countries. Harley holds a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto and an Honors Degree in Kinesiology from University of Western Ontario. He is also certified by The American College of Sports Medicine and The Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology, and served as an exercise and nutrition scientist for Canada’s Department of National Daefense.

As a fitness and nutrition specialist, Pasternak has trained many celebrities including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Halle Berry, Katy Perry, Megan Fox, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Pattinson, Adam Levine, Jessica Simpson, Ke$ha, Hilary Duff and Jennifer Hudson. He has appeared on MTV, VH1, E!, “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Dr. Oz,” "THE VIEW", “The Tyra Banks Show,” “Access Hollywood,” “Extra,” “Rachael Ray” “Next Top Model”, "GMA", and “THE TODAY SHOW" and most recently has co-starred on E!'s Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian. In addition, Harley has been covered in a wide array of print publications, including daily newspapers and health & fitness, women’s, lifestyle and entertainment magazines, such as: The New York Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Shape, Men’s Health, Fitness, Woman’s World, Glamour, Elle, Allure, Jane, Seventeen, Marie Claire, Teen People, People, US Weekly, InTouch and Star.

Paul Vincent
Paul has been working in the fitness industry for over 15 years and has cultivated a reputation as one of the top athletic trainers in his field. Paul has a strong following of clients ranging from professional and Olympic athletes, celebrities, executives and everything in between. Paul was born in Washington DC and grew up in Portugal. He moved back to the US in 1992 to attend the last few years of high school. Paul completed his undergraduate degree at UCLA and completed his Masters degree in Exercise Science, Performance Enhancement and Human Biomechanics in 2011.

Paul’s athletic career as a competitive athlete started on the track where he ran the 800 and 1500 meters. After suffering several injuries, Paul transitioned into long course open water swimming competitions. These competitions included several thirty-eight mile ocean crossing relay swims. He then moved into expedition length adventure racing tackling anything from sprint length races to expedition length races. Paul earned 15th place in the Fiji Eco Challenge World Championship, a 500-mile test of endurance, athletic ability and survival skills. Paul now dabbles in Ironman length triathlons, most notably finishing the Ironman Lanzarote, which is regarded as one of the toughest Ironman competitions in the world. Paul currently works with professional athletes and sports teams from the NBA, NFL and MLB. He also works with players and teams from the English Premier Soccer League and with athletes from the US Olympic Team and seventeen different International Olympic teams. In addition, Paul works on the fitness side of the entertainment industry. He creates and implements fitness programs preparing actors/actresses for specific roles. He is typically involved with at least 3-4 films at any given time.
