SYNOPSIS

This class will include a Q&A and a prepared reading session with an experienced casting professional.

Actors confirmed as RSVP'd will be sent a list of scene options the Friday before class.


CASTING DIRECTOR BIO 

Casting Director Nancy Foy began her career in 1980 at Francis Ford Coppola's Los Angeles based Zoetrope Studios, where she assisted in the casting of numerous films including THE OUTSIDERS, REDS, SHOOT THE MOON and FRANCES.  In 1982 she joined Michael McLean and Associates, and in 1984 she established her independent casting company, Nancy Foy Casting.

In a career that has spanned over 35 years, Nancy was EMMY Award-nominated for Excellence in Casting for the HBO films THE LATE SHIFT and THE RAT PACK, and for the TNT film JAMES DEAN: AN INVENTED LIFE, where she is credited with casting actor James Franco in the title role. Nancy was twice honored with the prestigious Casting Society of America's ARTIOS Award for THE RAT PACK and JAMES DEAN: AN INVENTED LIFE. She was ARTIOS Award nominated for OCTOBER SKY, in which she cast 17 year-old Jake Gyllenhaal in his first leading role. Other career highlights include THE MILAGRO BEANFIELD WAR, cult favorite BOUND, JUMANJI, THE ROCKETEER, HIDALGO, and RAY’S MALE HETEROSEXUAL DANCE HALL, winner of the 1988 Academy Award for Best Short Film, Live Action.

From 1990 to 1993, Nancy served as Vice President Motion Picture Casting for Paramount Pictures, where she supervised the casting of FORREST GUMP, PATRIOT GAMES, A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, WAYNE’S WORLD, INDECENT PROPOSAL, STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, SCHOOL TIES and THE FIRM, among others. Nancy rejoined the executive ranks in 2007, serving for the next nine years as 20th Century Fox Vice President Feature Casting. While at Fox, she oversaw the casting of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID and its two sequels; BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL and its sequel, SECOND BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL; ENOUGH SAID, BLACK NATIVITY, BRIDE WARS, PREDATORS, THE THREE STOOGES, WILD, GIFTED, THE LONGEST RIDE, PAPER TOWNS, and INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE, among others. In 2016, Nancy resumed her career as an independent casting director.

Nancy is a graduate of New York’s Professional Children's School, attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and earned a BFA in Acting from Carnegie-Mellon University. She served on the Casting Society of America Board of Directors from 1998 to 2000, and was re-elected to the CSA Board in 2010. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS).

Please note that the 90-day frequency restriction applies to this class. Your last frequency-restricted class must have taken place no less than 90 (ninety) days prior to this event to be eligible to register.

NO LATE ARRIVALS and NO WALK-INS are admitted. Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will be admitted to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be admitted at the door. Please do not show up if you have not been explicitly confirmed as RSVPed.
