SYNOPSIS

ODD BRODSKY is a quirky comedy about a lovable loser who quits her steady day job to follow a childhood passion of becoming an actress. There's just one problem: she's not very good at it!   But what she lacks in talent, she makes up for in heart. It's a wacky little adventure about following your dreams, learning to accept yourself, and finding the magic in life.

Matthew Irving, writer, cinematographer
Acclaimed cinematographer Matthew Irving has a history of making independent films look like expensive studio films. He has shot 28 features to date, including the hit WAITRESS (starring Keri Russell, Nathan Fillion, Jeremy Sisto, Cheryl Hines and Andy Griffith), which premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, was released theatrically by Fox Searchlight in May, and reached #4 on the box office charts. The Lionsgate teen comedy WAITING (starring Ryan Reynolds, Ana Farris and Justin Long) similarly cracked the box office top ten, to debut at #7. Other feature credits include the Sony Pictures Classics rave film GROOVE (nominated for “Best Picture” Independent Spirit Awards), the horror film THE ECHO (Vertigo Entertainment, producers of THE RING and THE GRUDGE), and REDEMPTION ROAD (directed by Mario Van Peebles and starring Michael Clark Duncan). Four of Matt's features premiered at Sundance, and almost all have been picked up for distribution by mini majors. Matt's adaptive style behind the camera has been attracting attention since his first feature-appropriately entitled One-debuted at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival to virtually unanimous critical acclaim, and Matt was subsequently named one of the "25 New Faces of Independent Film" by Filmmaker Magazine. He has earned accolades for his style of "precise framing and camera movement" and his "acute attention to color, lighting, and texture". As a screenwriter, Matthew has penned 10 feature length screenplays including ODD BRODSKY. His short stories MORBID CURIOSITY, SLASHDANCE, SEYMOUR SALLY RUFUS and STALKED have been winning critical acclaim on the film festival circuit. Matt earned dual BA's from Stanford University in English and Communications, where he also was selected for an internship at George Lucas's renowned visual effects facility, Industrial Light and Magic. He received his MFA from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema and Television.
