Sponsored in conjunction with The New School for Drama, the SAG Foundation Short Film Showcase is an innovative series that celebrates short films by talented emerging filmmakers and offers union members an opportunity to engage with working writers and directors in an intimate setting. The Short Film Showcase encourages and empowers actors to create their own work in a supportive environment. Short films from our showcase have been nominated for an Academy Award, Tribeca Film Festival, Manhattan Film Festival and many more.

Director Bios 

Grier Dill and Brett Glass

Grier Dill and Brett Glass are a filmmaking duo from Brooklyn. They started making movies together through the filmmaking collective Video Mass where groups are challenged to make original work under tight deadlines with themes and prompts to push and inspire the teams. They continue to work together for the upcoming Video Mass event "Spooky Fest 3" for the third year running.

David Eisenberg and Kaela Wohl

Kaela and David have been married for three years. Kaela is a costume designer for features and television shows including "Inside Amy Schumer" and "The Skeleton Twins." David is a producer for unscripted television including "House Hunters International," and "Saving Alaska." They met in film school 15 years ago, and have been living and working in NYC since 2004.

Meagan Flynn

Meagan can be seen questioning George Clooney in Jason Reitman's Oscar-nominated "Up in the Air", feature films such as "Last Breath” , “Duke” and “Trust Fund” and television shows like "The Playbook". Meagan is a Regional Emmy winning producer for "The Unreal Housewives of Kansas City", executive producer of the short “Adrift” and owner of Smart Mouth Productions-the creative force behind the web series "The Wingman” and the short films “The Playdate”, “Always Come Home”, “The Etiquette of Impotence”, “Masterpiece”, “High Bid”, and “Tipping Point.” Meagan directed the later five films as well as “The Wingman.” www.meaganflynn.com

Chris Knight

Chris Knight is a director and writer based in New York City.. His short films and feature scripts have been selected for a variety of festivals across the country, including Beverly Hills Film Festival, SoCal Independent Film Festival, Boston Film Festival and New York International Short Film Festival.

Noah Millman

After a sixteen-year Wall Street career, Noah Millman returned to his first loves: words and pictures. His non-fiction writing has been published in The New York Times, Politico, The Week, and, on a regular basis, The American Conservative, where he is a senior editor, featured blogger, and theater critic.

In film, he has been an Executive Producer on the forthcoming features: INFINITELY POLAR BEAR (Sony Pictures Classics, starring Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana, opens June 19th); THE RUNNER (starring Nicolas Cage, Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen and Peter Fonda) expected summer/fall 2015); and WE’VE FORGOTTEN MORE THAN WE EVER KNEW (starring Louisa Krause and Aaron Stanford, expected 2016).

GONE FISHING is his directorial debut.

He has never been fly fishing.

Laura Savia

Laura Savia’s directing credits include "The Recommendation" featuring Malcolm Barrett and Brandon Scott (IAMA Theatre Co.), "The Mnemonist of Dutchess County" (Theatre Row), "Letters to Santa" (Naked Angels), "The Glass Menagerie" (Univ. of Rochester), "House Strictly Private" (1st Irish Festival), "The Color of Justice" (Theatreworks USA), "The Lover" (The Drama League), as well as numerous short plays for Ars Nova, Partial Comfort, At Play, and the 24 Hour Plays. She has directed workshops or readings for The Public Theater, Roundabout Theatre Company, Atlantic Theater Company, Second Stage, and Ma-Yi Theater Company, among others. Assistant directing includes Broadway’s "The Merchant of Venice" starring Al Pacino (dir. Daniel Sullivan) and The Public Theater’s "Twelfth Night" starring Anne Hathaway. Laura is the the Workshop Artistic Producer at the Tony-Award-winning Williamstown Theatre Festival. She spent five seasons on Atlantic Theater Company's staff, including two as Literary Associate. Co-conceiver and director of The Living Newspaper, which has performed at Joe’s Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, and the A.R.T.’s Club Oberon. Laura has taught at NYU/The Strasberg Institute, Fordham University, University of Rochester, and One on One. 2009 Drama League Directing Fellow. Molly Ward 

Molly Ward is a first time director, who’s other writing, performing and producing collaborations with Lucas Near-Verbrugghe include sketch comedy. She produces expressionistic character sketches in a video series called Martha, which she also edits. Select acting credits include World Premieres of Bash Doran's Kin, Theresa Rebeck's Our House, Wendy Macleod's Find and Sign, and Nick Jones' The Nosemaker's Apprentice.
