What does it really mean to be signed to a two-year contract? Under what circumstances can an employer terminate employment? How is compensation defined in a personal services contract? What does exclusivity mean? Can a personal services contract provide for restrictions to seek work elsewhere even after the duration of the contract is over? What limitations can a personal services contract have with respect to the ownership of work? What is and is not confidential with respect to a personal services contract? What is the interplay between a union collective bargaining agreement and a personal services contract? This workshop will review all of these questions and more, provide guidance on provisions to be mindful of when negotiating a personal services contract, and examine common trends in broadcast industry personal services contract.

Anee Raulerson is Assistant Executive Director/Senior Broadcast Counsel of the Washington – Mid Atlantic Local of SAG-AFTRA. While attending the University of Baltimore School of Law, Ms. Raulerson interned with the then Washington – Baltimore Local of AFTRA from 2003-2004. After graduating from law school with a concentration in business law, Ms. Raulerson accepted a position on staff with the Washington-Baltimore Local in the fall of 2004. In addition to her other duties of negotiating and enforcing collective bargaining agreements, Ms. Raulerson also provides guidance to SAG-AFTRA members and their agents/attorneys with respect to personal services contracts. Ms. Raulerson graduated from Towson University in 2000 with a double major in sports management and sports studies.
