Let's just say it's about more than just having numerous voices in your repertoire.  Think APA...Acting, Preparation, Audition. In this workshop performers will learn more about the importance of each and how to insert these keys to unlock opportunities and enrich personal development in animation.  Bring your cuiosity and questions, as Ian will close the workshop with a Q&A.

About our guest instructor

Ian James Corlett was born in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, Canada, where he grew up with the family music business “Music Man Piano Sales” as an early focus in his life.  However, Ian’s first love was filmmaking and he began entering his animated and comedic films into Student Film Festivals as young as thirteen.  During his last year of high school Ian won the “Most Promising Film Maker in British Columbia” award and was offered a scholarship at Simon Fraser University and eventually began writing for animated TV series’.  His keen sense of comedy as well as his strong feel for character and story structure has combined to make him one of the busiest animation-specific writers in Canada. He worked on  The Adventures of Paddington Bear, Rescue Heroes, and the Emmy-nominated Rolie Polie Olie. He was the recipient of the 1999 Gemini Award for “Best Writing in a Children’s Series” for his work on Rolie Polie Olie.

For two decades, Ian has been serving up unique voice characterizations for commercial and animation projects of every genre. He has been cast in cartoon features and series such as the Emmy-nominated craziness of The Wacky World of Tex Avery, What’s With Andy? and Dragon Tales to the critically acclaimed CGI series, Beastwars. Recently he has voiced characters in features and series, including: Sausage Party (Sony, 2016), Vampirina(Disney, 2016), Blaze and the Monster Machines (Nickelodeon, 2016), Transformers: Robots in Dishguise (Cartoon Network, 2016), The Loud House(NIckelodeon, 2016), Ready Jet Go (PBS), Bob the Builder (HIT), My LIttle Pony (Hasbro), Pirate Express (ABC) and many more.
