Casting Access Policies and Rules
Our Casting Access classes offer a fantastic opportunity for members to gain hands-on experience, receive direct feedback from industry professionals, and prepare for real-world auditions. These classes are educational and designed to help you refine your craft, build confidence, and make meaningful connections with casting directors who play a key role in the industry. By participating, you’re taking a significant step toward strengthening your skills and boosting your professional journey.
We value the time and expertise that Casting Directors volunteer for these classes, and we want to ensure that every participant benefits from the opportunity. To help us make the most of each session, for you and those instructors, we ask that all attendees follow these guidelines:
Conduct:
- We ask all members to behave professionally and respectfully at all times. Aggressive behavior is not acceptable.
- If you have a concern or issue, we encourage you to express it in the appropriate setting and work toward a resolution. Disruptive behavior during class will not be tolerated.
- The SAG-AFTRA Foundation reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone.
- Recording of any kind (audio or video) is strictly prohibited.
Eligibility:
- All SAG-AFTRA members who are active and fully paid up are eligible for Casting Access.
- Most classes are restricted to members over the age of 18 on occasion we do offer classes for young performers please refer to our website.
- If our website shows that you are not in good standing, please contact SAG-AFTRA directly at (323) 549 6778. Keep in mind that updates may take up to 24 hours to reflect on the Foundation’s website.
Attendance Frequency:
In order to provide access to as many members as possible, frequency restrictions for these classes are necessary.
- Casting Access classes - Members may attend one Casting Access class every 30 days.
- Bonus Casting Access classes - These classes have no frequency restrictions and will be clearly noted on the class webpage.
- Agent Access - these unique classes with talent agents can be attended once every 90 days and will not count toward your Casting Access class limit.
- Waitlist Impact: If you are on the waitlist for a class, it counts toward your frequency restriction, and you cannot sign up for another Casting Access class until you are off the waitlist.
Waitlist Policy:
If the class is full, joining the waitlist shows you are interested in attending if space becomes available:
- If you are on the waitlist and are no longer able to attend, please remove yourself from the waitlist immediately to allow others the opportunity.
- If a space opens up, you will receive an email confirming your place in the class you are expected to attend.
- If you have received a confirmation email for your attendance and can no longer attend, please be sure to cancel your space before the cancellation deadline mentioned in the email. If you do not cancel, you will be marked as a no-show.
- You may be added to the attendee list up to three hours before the class start time. If added after the cancellation deadline, please note that the no-show policy does not apply if you don’t attend.
Cancellation Policy:
We understand that life happens, but last-minute cancellations can disrupt the class and impact other members. Here’s what you need to know:
- Cancellation Deadline: Please refer to your class requirements email for specific cancellation deadlines. These may vary based on class structure.
- How to Cancel: Cancellations must be made through the website; we cannot accept them via email or phone.
- Late Cancellations: If you cancel after the deadline outlined in your mail and on the website, you will be marked as a "no-show".
No-Show Policy:
We limit class sizes to 20 members to ensure everyone gets quality feedback and real-world experience. To keep classes fair and impactful for all members, we have a strict no-show policy:
- Late Arrival: Check in opens 15 minutes before the class starts, please arrive on time. If you arrive late, you will be marked as a no-show.
- Leaving Early: We do expect you to stay for the duration of the class as leaving early disrupts the session. Leaving early will be recorded as a no-show. Classes generally last 2 to 4 hours. Please don’t sign up if you will need to leave early.
- Our no-show policy is a two-strike system over the course of one year. The first instance of a no-show will be recorded in your member account. If a second no-show occurs, you will be restricted from attending Casting Access classes for 90 days.
Accessibility:
- For accessibility requirements, including sign language interpretation, please email rsvp@sagaftra.foundation with at least three (3) business days' notice.
Additional Information:
- SAG-AFTRA ID: You’ll need to show a valid SAG-AFTRA ID card or proof of payment to attend. No entry will be granted without current verification.
- All actors in the class should come prepared to perform.
- Virtual Sessions: If you’re attending a remote class, please do not share the session link or listen in without participating.
- Content Warning: Some classes may contain explicit or sensitive content, which is intended for mature audiences.
- Educational Purpose: These classes are for educational purposes only and are not auditions.
