SYNOPSIS

Join us for an important panel focused on strategies for effectively handling your income and expenses and successfully negotiating the Tax Reform laws that will be in effect when you file your 2018 returns.

A variety of topics relevant to our community will be addressed, including…

  • How exactly have itemized business deductions been affected?
  • Is the interest on a mortgage or home equity line of credit still deductible?
  • What records should we be keeping to maximize any tax benefits?
  • What are the benefits AND the pitfalls of forming a corporation?
  • Things to know about filing tax returns for professional young performers

Important Note: This is an informational panel and is absolutely NOT a substitute for the advice of your tax preparer/professional, legal or financial counsel. We don’t know the specifics of your situation and are not suggesting you should act or refrain from acting based solely on the information provided here. We will be unable to take individual questions, but will do our very best to give you the facts you need to start any further investigation.

PANELISTS BIOS

Emily Churchill, EA
Emily is a working actor and a senior preparer at M & M Tax Pros, Inc, formally known as Actor's Tax Prep, Inc. Ms. Churchill has prepared returns for clients for 10 tax seasons, and holds the prestigious designation of Enrolled Agent, awarded by the Internal Revenue Service to experienced practitioners who have successfully passed a grueling three-day exam. She has particular entertainment industry expertise and enjoys helping her fellow actors along with clients from all walks of life, including Real Estate Agents, Culinary Experts, and Editors in film and TV.

Ronnie Steadman, EA
Ronnie hails from the South, where he learned down home values, not the least of which was "a penny saved is a penny earned." Now he knows that "a penny itemized is a penny returned." He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. Though his studies were focused in math, ironically he turned his sights toward acting and has enjoyed a fruitful career with numerous roles in independent films, national commercials, television, and on the stage. As a result, he understands the entertainer’s challenges on a tax return. An avid puzzle-solver, Ronnie enjoys a challenge. With over a decade of experience, Ronnie is an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and handles both personal and Corporate returns.

Moderator - Miata Edoga
Miata is the National Financial Wellness Consultant for The Actors Fund, and leads money management workshops and seminars for Fund clients as a part of their Financial Wellness Program. She is an actor herself, as well as being the President and Founder of Abundance Bound, a 15-year old financial education company for actors, artists and creative entrepreneurs.
