In 2015, Rodriguez returned to star as Ilse in the Deaf West Theatre production of “Spring Awakening” held at the Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. Later that year, it was announced the production would transfer to Broadway with its current cast for a limited engagement at the Brooks Atkinson theatre.Rodriguezperformed in the Broadway revival in September of 2015 through the closing in January. The show ran two weeks past its intended run due to rave reviews and garnered three Tony Award nominations including Best Revival of a Musical. In 2013,Rodriguezstarred in the Broadway production of “First Date the Musical” alongside Zachary Levi. In 2010, she appeared in Encores! Production of “Bye, Bye Birdie.” In 2009,Rodriguezoriginated the role of Wednesday Addams in the world premiere try-out run of the new Broadway-bound musical “The Addams Family” based on the cartoon of Charles Addams.
On the small screen, Rodriquez was seen in 2017 with a recurring role as Maxine Griffin in the second season of ABC’s thriller series “Quantico.” In 2015,Rodriguezwas cast as Vanessa, a straight talking, no-nonsense cancer patient ready to share her truth, in a multi-episode arc in the second season of the ABC Family series “Chasing Life.” She is perhaps best known as part of the cast of the NBC series “Smash” for its second season in 2013. Playing the role of Ana Vargas, an aspiring Broadway performer and the new roommate of Katherine McPhee’s character Karen. Her first television role was a guest appearance as Jordan Steele in “Gossip Girl.”
Rodriguezhas also stared in a variety of television films. In 2016, she starred in the Netflix film “My Bakery in Brooklyn” in which she played one of the lead characters, Chloe. In 2012, she starred in the television movie “Shadow of Fear” as Lauren and in 2011 starring in the television Movie “Iceland” as Rose.
In the fall of 2014, Rodriguezwas diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2015,Rodriguezstarted the website ChemoCouture.com to create a blog detailing her journey during chemotherapy as well as providing various fashion, beauty, and wellness tips that she employs during her battle with cancer After going public with her diagnosis,Rodriguezwas contacted by Cosmopolitan to blog for their Cosmo Online Health and Fitness readers about her experiences.
