Presented annually by the Casting Society of America, the Artios Award is one of the most prestigious honors a casting director can receive. An ancient Greek word meaning “perfectly fitted,” the Artios celebrates excellence in casting film, television, and theater.  Nomination criteria includes originality, creativity, and the contribution of casting to the overall quality of the project.  Join us for an evening with 2020 Artios nominees to learn about their casting process and invaluable best practices for actors.

PANELISTS

Amelia McCarthy, Telsey + Co - Associate, Fosse/Verdon
Amelia McCarthy is a casting associate in NY. She has worked for many wonderful casting directors including Bernie Telsey, Cindy Tolan, Ellen Parks, Laura Rosenthal and Ellen Chenoweth. Her credits include Little America, House of Cards (6th season), Divorce (2nd season), Flight of the Conchords (1st season), Sugar, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men, Doubt, Gran Torino, Company Men, You Don't Know Jack, True Grit, The Ides of March, Men In Black 3, The Bourne Legacy, Inside Llewyn Davis and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. She has also worked as a casting director on films such as The Speed of Life (co-casting with Cindy Tolan), the Barry Levinson film The Bay (co-casting with Ellen Chenoweth) and New York casting on the Swedish film The Troubled Man. She most recently worked on the FX series Fosse/Verdon, which was nominated for a casting Emmy, the critically acclaimed Apple+ series Little America and the upcoming series Little Voice.

Caitlin started her career in commercial casting in 2008 and has worked on hundreds of commercial castings since then. Her passion for casting expanded into the television and independent film genres. Caitlin comes from a comedy background having completed all four levels of Improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre NY in 2009. In the spirit of "yes, and," Caitlin's work reflects her commitment to champion diversity, inclusion, and casting that accurately reflects the modern world in which we live. Working as Associate Casting Director for FX's POSE by Ryan Murphy, Caitlin for her work on the most inclusive and authentic LGBTQ+ cast on television, the show was nominated for both the casting Emmy and an Artios Award. Caitlin is a proud member of the Television Academy, Commercial Casting Directors Association, The AICP, and Casting Society of America's Diversity Committee and since 2016, Caitlin has served the CSA as an Associate National Board Member.

Kate Sprance, Ellen Lewis Casting, Associate -The Irishman and The Dead Don’t Die
Kate Sprance is a casting associate in NY. She has been fortunate enough to work for many wonderful casting directors including Cindy Tolan, Ellen Chenoweth, and currently Ellen Lewis. While working for Ellen Chenoweth, Kate was the casting assistant on ‘Men In Black III’, ‘The Ides of March’ and ‘The Bourne Legacy’. In the eight years working with Ellen Lewis, Kate was the assistant on ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’, associate on ‘The Drop’, the HBO Pilot ‘The Leftovers’, the HBO Pilot ‘Vinyl’, ‘Bridge of Spies’, ‘Silence’, ‘The Post’, the Netflix limited series ‘Godless’, ‘Ready Player One’, ‘The Dead Don’t Die’, and ‘The Irishman’, and co-cast with Ellen, soon to be released ‘Bad Education’ and the Netflix limited series ‘The Queen’s Gambit’. Kate is a Jersey girl and attended Muhlenberg College.
