SYNOPSIS

This online class will provide feedback from an experienced casting professional. No more than 20 performers will be participating.

The date listed for the class is the day enrollment and cancellation close, and your headshots are sent from Casting Access to the Casting Director.  There will be a Q&A with the Casting Director hosted in GoogleHangouts on June 15th.

After the Q&A, the class will be assigned scenes by the casting director. Scenes will be submitted in the form of a self-tape.

You will have until June 19th 9:00am PDT to rehearse, record, and upload a video containing your performance of the material you were assigned.You will upload the video using your YouTube account and email the unlisted video link. The casting director will review your workshop video and provide notes. 


CASTING DIRECTOR BIO

Rick Messina currently works with Rachel Tenner as a Casting Director on the Amazon series ‘Upload’ created by Greg Daniels. He also works as an associate casting director on the upcoming Netflix feature ‘Red Notice’ starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds & Gal Gadot, the upcoming Universal feature ‘Fast & Furious 9’, the upcoming Netflix feature ‘The Midnight Sky’ directed by and starring George Clooney, the upcoming Apple + series ’Severance’ directed by Ben Stiller, Season 4 of the FX series ‘Fargo’, the Apple + series ‘Home Before Dark' S1 & S2 and the upcoming WB/Netflix series ‘Maid’ directed by John Wells. Rick is also the casting director on the MGM/VUDU series ‘Mr. Mom’ and the upcoming SNAPCHAT series ‘Total Badass Wrestling’ produced by Scott Aukerman.


Rick cast the Netflix special 'Michael Bolton's Big, Sexy Valentines Day Special’, the Viceland series ‘What Would Diplo Do?’ starring James Van Der Beek, the audience network series ‘Hit The Road’ starring Jason Alexander, seasons 3 & 4 of the Seeso/Comedy Bang! Bang! series 'Bajillion Dollar Propertie$’, the STARZ! series 'Blunt Talk' starring Patrick Stewart, the Netflix documentary ’They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead’ directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville and the independent movie 'After The Reality' starring Matthew Morrison & Sarah Chalke.

 

Rick served as the associate casting director for the Sony feature ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ staring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart & Jack Black, the Universal feature ‘Blockers’, the New Line Cinema feature "Keanu” starring Jordan Peele, Keegan-Michael Key and Tiffany Haddish, the Disney feature "Tomorrowland" starring George Clooney, CBS films' "Middle School, The Worst Years Of My Life”, the FOX Series "The Grinder"  starring Robe Lowe and Fred Savage, the EPIX series ‘Perpetual Grace, LTD’ starring Ben Kingsley’ the Hulu limited series ‘Catch 22’ directed by George Clooney, the Netflix Series 'Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later’, season 3 of the EPIX series ‘Get Shorty’ and 3 seasons of the hit Comedy Central series, "Workaholics" starring Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Blake Anderson.  


While in New York, Rick assisted on several Broadway shows, including “Nine to Five,” “Wicked,” “Cry Baby,” and “Legally Blonde” with the renowned casting director, Bernie Telsey. Rick graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a bachelor of arts in theatre arts/film with a minor in business.  Rick is also an alumnus from the Orange County School of the Arts.



REQUIREMENTS

You must have completed a Casting Access Online application prior to registering for this class.

If you RSVP for this class you must be able to upload your video by 9:00am PDT on June 19th. DO NOT BE LATE. Those who have been seated by June 15th are expected to comply. You must cancel your reservation if you cannot comply. 


Your video will not be accepted IF:

-Your video is shot vertically instead of horizontally. If you need to shoot on an iPhone or tablet, turn it sideways.

-It is not appropriately framed. Standard framing is top of the head to mid chest.

-The video has poor sound, clarity, or lighting. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it cannot take away from your performance.

-You have a distracting background. If you cannot provide a solid background, a minimal background is best.

-Your video has title cards or subtitles. They are unnecessary.

-Your video settings are not Unlisted. Videos that are Private or Public will not be accepted.

-You “share” the video through YouTube. You must email the video URL to the specified email address.
