SYNOPSIS
In voiceover, adding audio ambience in the form of background and foreground conversations to sce nes in films and TV/streaming shows is often known as Looping or ADR (Automatic Dialogue Replacement/Automated Dialogue Replacement). Regardless of what you call it, having a clear understanding of the ins and outs and the do's and dont's of ADR/Looping is an important part of finding success in this sought after niche of voiceover. During this class we will demystify some of the myths (and there a few) surrounding ADR/Looping and will explore other relevant details about ADR/Looping sessions. We are fortunate to have one of the best ADR coordinaters and casting professionals in the field leading the way during this exciting class. INSTRUCTOR BIO
Johnny Gidcomb
Johnny Gidcomb has done ADR on Five of the top ten grossing films of all time: Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame, Avatar, Titanic, The Avengers, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Iron Man 3. During his 24+ years coordinating and casting ADR for feature films and television, Johnny has been grateful to work with some of Hollywood's most talented directors, editors, and sound supervisors. He has also been an active participant in the Los Angeles theatre scene throughout his career, having directed over 20 productions across the Southland. Under his direction, those productions earned numerous accolades and were nominated for Ovation Awards. In addition to theater, Johnny directed a short film entitled "Sake Bottle Battle" that became a film festival favorite across the country. Before venturing into the looping world, Johnny studied theater at Boston Conservatory of Music, Theater, and Dance and was the CEO of the Groundlings Theater, where he ran the facility and the school.
