This class will include a Q&A and a SELF TAPE CLASS with live feedback. Participants MUST be able to complete their self-tape and submit via an Unlisted YouTube Link and send the link to by 9:00AM PST Wednesday, January 19th. (Please see additional self-tape instructions and guide provided by Marin below) Select your own 2 minute scene that you would be cast for your self-tape or submit an already recorded self-tape that you are allowed to share.  All participating actors must have the capability to watch the class self-tapes during the Q&A/Watch & Feedback session on Zoom.

Marin Hope is a Los Angeles native and LA-based Casting Director. In 2006, she landed a position at ABC Primetime Casting New York under casting executive, Marci Philips. She would go on to work with casting directors,  Judy Henderson, Suzanne Smith-Crowley, Jessica Kelly, Billy Hopkins and Ann Goulder on projects such as Showtime's Homeland, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, ABC’s Pan Am, The Wolverine, Labor Day, ABC's Zero Hour, Noah, The Maze Runner, NBC's The Blacklist, and HBO's Bessie before returning to Los Angeles in 2014. 

In 2015, Marin joined Define American as their Entertainment Media Director. Define American is a nonprofit media and culture organization founded by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Jose Antonio Vargas, who’s mission is to use the power of storytelling to transcend politics and shift the conversation around immigrants, identity, and citizenship in a changing America. In addition to expanding Define American’s impact in television, film, and entertainment, Marin produced the first annual Define American Film Festival in Des Moines preceding Iowa’s 2016 Presidential Caucuses.  

Marin has since opened her own casting office, often partnering with veteran Casting Director, Heidi Levitt. Together, Marin and Heidi cast film, television, theatre and commercial projects. Some of Marin’s credits include American Made, starring Tom Cruise and Domhnall Gleeson, The Last Word, starring Shirley MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried, Kings, starring Halle Berry and Daniel Craig, Bad Samaritan starring David Tennant and Robert Sheehan, Who Will Write Our History, starring Joan Allen and Adrien Brody, and The Roads Not Taken, starring Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Laura  Linney and Salma Hayek (which premiered in competition at the 2020 Berlin International Film Festival) and most recently Raymond and Ray which stars Ewan McGregor, Ethan Hawke, Sophie Okonedo and Maribel Verdú and is  set to premier later this year. 

Marin is a member of the Casting Society of America (CSA) and was nominated for an Artios Award for casting in 2018, was the recipient of an Artios Award for casting in 2020 and is nominated once again this year! For a complete list of her film and television credits visit 


You must have completed a Casting Access Application prior to registering for this class.

Please note that the 90-day frequency restriction applies to this workshop. Your last frequency-restricted workshop must have taken place no less than 90 (ninety) days prior to this event to be eligible to register.

 Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will receive a link inviting them to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be sent the link to join the class.

Your video will not be accepted IF:

  • Your video is shot vertically instead of horizontally. If you need to shoot on an iPhone or tablet, turn it sideways.
  • It is not appropriately framed. Standard framing is top of the head to mid chest.
  • The video has poor sound, clarity, or lighting. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it cannot take away from your performance.
  • You have a distracting background. If you cannot provide a solid background, a minimal background is best.
  • Your video has title cards or subtitles. They are unnecessary.
  • Your video settings are not Unlisted. Videos that are Private or Public will not be accepted.
  • You “share” the video through YouTube. You must email the video URL to the specified email address.
  • You mark your video as Listed for Kids. Videos are unable to be sent with this setting. Make sure this setting is disabled.
