SYNOPSIS

This two day course will focus on how to select and record a good introductory voiceover sample or clip for commercial voiceover representation or work.  A trend is emerging in voiceover where a voiceover sample clip is the first thing an agent or client will request, and like a good headshot, it's important that your sample reflects the most marketable and authentic demonstration of your voice.  In the first class, we will learn basic techniques for reading commercial copy, discuss how to choose copy, help identify each student's "vocal profile", and record a sample or samples from home.  In the second class, we will listen to students' recordings, touch on basic editing and post-production tricks to make it sound great, and discuss next steps.  A microphone or smartphone is required for recording, and we will be using Audacity audio software during editing and post-production portions of the class.
