SYNOPSIS

This in-person class will include a Q&A and a prepared reading session with an experienced casting professional.

Please prepare a scene of your choice from tv or film.  Material should be two minutes in length or less.  A reader will be available in class. If doing a scene, actors should bring a copy for the reader.

 

CASTING DIRECTOR BIO

JESSICA DANIELS, CSA, is an Emmy Award-winning Film and TV casting director and native New Yorker best known for casting story-driven independent films and narrative television. 

Film credits include: MASTER (Sundance 2022), THE 40 YEAR OLD VERSION (2021 Artios Award for Feature Film casting, Sundance 2020 US Dramatic Best Director Winner), SELAH AND THE SPADES (Sundance 2019), THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST (Sundance 2018 US Dramatic Grand Jury Prize Winner), TYREL (Sundance 2018), ROXANNE ROXANNE (Sundance 2017 Jury Prize for Breakout Performance to Chanté Adams), WIENER-DOG, (Sundance 2016), WHITE GIRL (Sundance 2016), and NASTY BABY (Sundance 2015). Additional film credits include LUCKY GRANDMA (TriBeCa 2019), A VIGILANTE (SXSW 2018), MY DAYS OF MERCY (TIFF 2017), THE STRANGE ONES (SXSW 2017 Jury Prize for Breakout Performance to James Freedson-Jackson).

Jessica won an Emmy for her casting on the acclaimed NBC series 3O ROCK. Television credits include HELPSTERS (Apple TV), WU-TANG: AN AMERICAN SAGA (Hulu),  DEADBEAT (Hulu, Artios Award for Series Casting), BENDERS (IFC), and THE CARRIE DIARIES (CW) and STARVED (F/X). 

From 2014-2019 Jessica served as the New York Pilot Season Casting Director for 20th Century Fox/Fox 21 Studios in New York, contributing casting to many shows including  TALES FROM THE LOOP (Amazon), MIXTAPE (Netflix), HAPPY ACCIDENT (ABC), LESS THAN ZERO (Hulu), SINGLE PARENTS (ABC), THE RESIDENT (Fox), FRESH OFF THE BOAT (ABC), LIFE IN PIECES (CBS), AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE ASSASSINATION OF GIANNI VERSACE (F/X), AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE PEOPLE VS. OJ SIMPSON (F/X), TYRANT (F/X) and GENIUS: EINSTEIN (NatGeo). 

She joined Walt Disney Television Studios in 2019 as Vice President, Casting, re-establishing the studio department's presence in New York. Jessica serves as a casting executive at ABC Signature Studios as well as providing New York Casting for pilots and series at Signature, 20th Television and Hulu.  Most recently, she cast significant roles on shows including BLACK CAKE (Hulu), THE DROPOUT (Hulu), NATIONAL TREASURE (D+), THE MYSTERIOUS BENEDICT SOCIETY (D+), SINGLE DRUNK FEMALE (Freeform), and REASONABLE DOUBT (Onyx).


REQUIREMENTS

All members must show a valid SAG-AFTRA card when they check in for the class.  No admittance will be granted without your current card or receipt.

Everyone entering the building must present a valid ID, Proof of Vaccination, and is required to wear a mask.  Actors may remove masks for performances, and instructors are invited to remove masks while giving adjustments or feedback.

NO LATE ARRIVALS and NO WALK-INS are admitted. Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will be admitted to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be admitted at the door. Please do not show up if you have not been explicitly confirmed as RSVPed.

Cancellations are required by midnight the night before a class. Cancellation can only be made via the website. You cannot cancel your RSVP via email or phone.  Those who have been seated by the start date are expected to comply. You must cancel your reservation before the start date if you cannot comply, or you will face a six month ineligibility period.  DO NOT BE LATE.  Check-in begins 15 minutes to the class start time.  If you arrive after the start time, you will not be admitted and it will be counted as a no-show.
