Career Retrospective with actor Robin Thede.

Robin Thede is a multi-talented comedian, writer, actor and producer. Five-time Emmy-nominee, Thede is the Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer, Writer and Star of HBO’s Emmy-winning sketch comedy series, “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” She also stars alongside Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross in the upcoming Amazon Studios feature, “Candy Cane Lane.” 

Previously, she was the Creator, Executive Producer, Writer and Host of “The Rundown with RobinThede” on BET where she made her mark as one of the only Black women to ever host a late-night television talk show. Robin Thede holds the title to many firsts. She served as both head writer and correspondent on Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore,” becoming the first Black woman to earn the title of Head Writer in late-night television. She was also the first Black woman to be head writer for the White House Correspondents Dinner. 

Thede has received numerous awards and accolades, including being honored with the Innovator of the Year Award by the Culture Creators in 2022. She was named to the Variety 2022 Comedy Impact Report as well as to The Hollywood Reporter’s 2022 Most Influential People in Comedy list. Additionally, she won a Black Reel Award in the category “Outstanding Actress, Comedy Series”. She currently develops projects for TV and film under her For Better or Words, Inc. banner, which has an overall deal at HBO/HBOMax/Warner Brothers.
