SYNOPSIS

Parents/guardians will be invited to join for a 20 minute Q&A at the top of the class.  

Actors will choose a scene, monologue, or commercial copy to work on that most appropriately represents them from Film/Television.   All material should be 2 minutes in length or less..  A reader will be available during the class.

All actors will need to provide a copy of their sides upon check-in for the class.

This class is for performers between the ages of 13-17 only.  No performers over the age of 18 will be admitted.  All performers must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

CASTING DIRECTOR BIO

CAROLYN VOLPE, Ph.D. has been working in educational media for almost twenty years, both in educational research and children’s casting.  Carolyn enjoys combining her singing, dancing, and acting interests, her teaching background, as well as her formal education, love for children, and passion for educational media by casting for Sesame Street and other children’s educational projects.  Carolyn has been casting children, adults, and even some dogs for Sesame Street’s 41st through 50th seasons and recently for Sesame Workshop’s new series Helpsters for Apple TV+.  In addition, she  worked with all the child performers on Amazon Prime’s Creative Galaxy, Yogapalooza for Z Living, Food Network’s Rachael Ray’s Kids Cook Off and Chopped Junior.  She is a certified elementary teacher with a Masters degree in Educational Media and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.  Carolyn has done extensive research and educational consulting for numerous shows, not only for Sesame Street, but also for others including Disney’s Henry Hugglemonster and Little Einsteins and Nick Jr’s Wonder Pets and Bubble Guppies. 


REQUIREMENTS

All members must show a valid SAG-AFTRA card when they check in for the class.  No admittance will be granted without your current card or receipt.

Everyone entering the building must present a valid ID, Proof of Vaccination, and is required to wear a mask.  Actors may remove masks for performances, and instructors are invited to remove masks while giving adjustments or feedback.

NO LATE ARRIVALS and NO WALK-INS are admitted. Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will be admitted to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be admitted at the door. Please do not show up if you have not been explicitly confirmed as RSVPed.

Cancellations are required by midnight the night before a class. Cancellation can only be made via the website. You cannot cancel your RSVP via email or phone.  Those who have been seated by the start date are expected to comply. You must cancel your reservation before the start date if you cannot comply, or you will face a six month ineligibility period.  DO NOT BE LATE.  Check-in begins 15 minutes to the class start time.  If you arrive after the start time, you will not be admitted and it will be counted as a no-show.
