CLASS FORMAT

This class will include a Q&A and a SELF TAPE CLASS with live feedback

Participants MUST be able to complete their self-tape and submit via an Unlisted YouTube Link and send the link to castingaccess@sagaftra.foundation by 9:00AM PST | 12:00PM EST Wednesday, May 31st, with the subject Casting Access - Tanya Giang. (Please see additional self-tape instructions below

Select your own 2 minute maximum scene that you would be cast for your self-tape or submit an already recorded self-tape that you are allowed to share.  All participating actors must have the capability to watch the class' self-tapes during the Q&A/Watch & Feedback session on Zoom. If your self tape is over 2 minutes, it will NOT be accepted.

RSVP'D actors will receive a Zoom meeting invitation sent on the day of the class to participate. Please check your spam, junk and promotion folders if you're not seeing our emails in your inbox. If you haven't received the zoom link by 1 hour prior to the class, email castingaccess@sagaftra.foundation to receive the link.


CASTING DIRECTOR BIO

Tanya Giang has been casting for over 10 years, working primarily in film and television. As an associate, credits include Riverdale, Doom Patrol, and You. In the indie film space, she's cast A Great Divide (premiering at Bentonville Film Festival in June 2023), Run & Gun (Paramount), Block Party (BET+), and Daughter (Corey Deshon's directorial debut feature). In recent years, she's also begun working in animation with Ultraman, an upcoming Netflix feature. Prior to casting, Tanya worked in talent management and in production as a set photographer.


SELF TAPE INSTRUCTIONS

Your video will ONLY be accepted IF:

  • Make your self tape Unlisted on YouTube. Videos listed as Public or Private cannot be accepted.
  • Your video is shot horizontally. If you need to shoot on an iPhone or tablet, turn it sideways.
  • It is appropriately framed. Standard framing is top of the head to mid chest.
  • The video has good sound, clarity, or lighting. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it cannot take away from your performance.
  • You have a non-distracting background. If you cannot provide a solid background, a minimal background is best.
  • Your video DOES NOT have title cards or subtitles. They are not necessary.
  • Your video is set as Unlisted. Videos that are Private or Public will not be accepted.
  • You “share” the video through YouTube. You must email the video URL to the specified email address.
  • You mark your video as Not Listed for Kids. Videos are unable to be sent to the instructor with this setting. (ie Listed for Kids means content for children.)  Click here to watch a video tutorial.


REQUIREMENTS

You must have completed a Casting Access Application prior to registering for this class.

Please note that the 90-day frequency restriction applies to this workshop. Your last frequency-restricted workshop must have taken place no less than 90 (ninety) days prior to this event to be eligible to register.

Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will receive a link inviting them to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be sent the link to join the class.
