SYNOPSIS

This virtual class will include a Q&A and a prepared reading session with an experienced casting professional.  

Participating actors will be assigned scenes based on their headshot/resume to prepare prior to class by the Casting Director.

As scenes will be pre-assigned, the cancellation deadline for this class is Sunday, August 13th at 2pm PST / 3pm MT / 5pm EST.

The Zoom link will be sent out one hour prior to class.

CASTING DIRECTOR BIO

Austin Monthly magazine named Jo Edna Boldin “the premier casting director of the Southwest”. Jo Edna cast her first TV series “Newscast from the Past” for PBS in 1985. As a Feature Film location casting director for over 20 years, Jo Edna has worked with many renown directors including Gore Verbinski, McG, Albert & Allen Hughes, Carl Franklin, Ron Howard, Jim Sheridan, Alan Parker, Taylor Hackford, Billy Bob Thornton, Ethan and Joel Coen, Tommy Lee Jones, Paul Haggis, Peter Berg, Lasse Hallstrom, Steven Soderbergh, Terence Malik, Mike Judge, Christopher Guest , to name a few. Ms. Boldin won the 2008-2009 Artios award for outstanding casting, Studio Feature, location casting for “No Country for Old Men”. In 2006, Jo Edna was nominated for an Emmy for casting on “Into the West”. Dallas Women in Film awarded Jo Edna the Lifetime achievement award in 2003. Jo Edna was on the founding board of New Mexico Women in Film. Ms.Boldin is a current member of the Casting Society of America, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and New Mexico Women in Film.

Jo Edna is a 2023 Artios Award Winner for her work on The Harder They Fall.

REQUIREMENTS

All members must show a valid SAG-AFTRA card when they check in for the class.  No admittance will be granted without your current card or receipt.

NO LATE ARRIVALS and NO WALK-INS are admitted. Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will be admitted to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be admitted at the door. Please do not show up if you have not been explicitly confirmed as RSVPed.

Cancellations are required by midnight the night before a class. Cancellation can only be made via the website. You cannot cancel your RSVP via email or phone.  Those who have been seated by the start date are expected to comply. You must cancel your reservation before the start date if you cannot comply, or you will face a six month ineligibility period.  DO NOT BE LATE.  Check-in begins 15 minutes to the class start time.  If you arrive after the start time, you will not be admitted and it will be counted as a no-show.
