CLASS FORMAT
This class will include a Q&A and a PREPARED READING SESSION in person with an experienced casting professional.
Actors will choose a 2 minute maximum scene to perform live in-person.
All actors will need to email a PDF of their chosen scene to castingaccess@sagaftra.foundation for the reader by 12:00PM PST|4PM EST on Monday, August 7th. The subject needs to be Casting Access - Marin Hope. The body of the email MUST include the role that the reader will be reading.
CASTING DIRECTOR BIO
Marin Hope is a Los Angeles native and LA-based casting director. In 2006, Marin made the move to New York City, after landing a position at ABC Primetime Casting, under casting executive Marci Philips. She would go on to work with casting directors, Judy Henderson, Suzanne Smith-Crowley, Jessica Kelly, Billy Hopkins and Ann Goulder on projects such as Showtime's Homeland, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, ABC’S Pan Am, The Wolverine, Labor Day, ABC's Zero Hour, Noah, The Maze Runner, NBC'S The Blacklist, and HBO's Bessie before returning to Los Angeles in 2014.
Shortly after her return, Marin joined Define American as their Entertainment Media Director. Define American is a nonprofit media and culture organization founded by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Jose Antonio Vargas. Define American’s mission is to use the power of storytelling to transcend politics and shift the conversation around immigrants, identity, and citizenship in a changing America, humanizing the immigrant narrative, one story at a time. In addition to expanding Define American’s impact in television, film and entertainment, Marin produced the first annual Define American Film Festival in Des Moines preceding Iowa’s 2016 Presidential Caucuses.
Marin has since opened her own casting office, often partnering with veteran casting director, Heidi Levitt on film, television, theatre and commercial projects. Some credits include American Made, starring Tom Cruise and Domhnall Gleeson, Complete Unknown, starring Michael Shannon and Rachel Weisz, The Last Word, starring Shirley MacLaine and Amanda Seyfried, Kings, starring Halle Berry and Daniel Craig, The Roads Not Taken, starring Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Laura Linney and Salma Hayek, All My Puny Sorrows, starring Alison Pill, Sarah Gadon, Mare Winningham and Donal Logue, and most recently Raymond and Ray, starring Ethan Hawke, Ewan McGregor, Sophie Okonedo and Maribel Verdú, which premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival and is now available to stream on Apple TV+.
Marin is a member of the Casting Society of America (CSA). She was was the recipient of an Artios Award for casting in 2020 and was nominated for Artios Awards in 2018 and 2022.

You must have completed a Casting Access Application prior to registering for this class.
All members must show a valid SAG-AFTRA card when they check in for the class. No admittance will be granted without your current card or receipt.
NO LATE ARRIVALS are admitted. Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will be admitted to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be admitted at the door. Please do not show up if you have not been explicitly confirmed as RSVPed.
Cancellations are required by midnight the night before a class. Cancellation can only be made via the website. You cannot cancel your RSVP via email or phone. Those who have been seated by the start date are expected to comply. You must cancel your reservation before the start date if you cannot comply, or you will face a six month ineligibility period. DO NOT BE LATE. Check-in begins 15 minutes to the class start time. If you arrive after the start time, you will not be admitted and it will be counted as a no-show.
Please note that the 30-day frequency restriction applies to this workshop. Your last frequency-restricted workshop must have taken place no less than 30 (thirty) days prior to this event to be eligible to register
