SYNOPSIS
This class will include a Q&A with LA based Casting Director Kristi Lugo, followed by an actor's choice prepared performance class.
Participating actors will choose, prepare and perform 2 minute max scenes or 1 minute max monologues from film or television. Additional preparation details will be sent via email with your RSVP confirmation.
Actors should bring a hard copy of their sides for the reader.
BIO
Kristi Lugo is an openly queer Latina casting director and producer based in Los Angeles. In addition to her recent work as the associate Casting Director on Warner Brother's first Latino superhero film, BLUE BEETLE, and the limited series prequel to the John Wick franchise, THE CONTINENTAL for Starz; she's currently a casting consultant for Fangoria Studios and Baby Atomica on both their international and domestic slates. Lugo began her career casting FULL BEAT starring Juliana Joel (RAVEN'S HOME), which was later acquired by HBO. Lugo is currently producing the feature film TRANS LOS ANGELES, written and directed by Kase Peña, the first known transgender Latinx woman to join the Writers Guild of America. Variety listed TRANS LOS ANGELES as one of its first blind predictions for Best Original Screenplay for the 2024 Academy Awards. In addition, she is co-producing with Adam Harris Engelhard and 828 Productions (THE FALLOUT), the feature film adaption of the beloved viral LGBTQ+ short film, PRETTY BOY.
Lugo is currently casting several exciting projects, including the 90s Drag King dramedy, THE YOUNG KING, original creature feature MEDUSA, alongside Sundance alum producer Tara Ansley (TRAGEDY GIRLS, MY DEAD DAD), and comedy MAID OF DISHONOR. She most recently cast the indie darling, BIG BOYS, with breakout star Isaac Krasner, Emily Deschanel, and Dora Madison, and thriller MID-CENTURY starring Academy Award Nominee Bruce Dern, Stephen Lang, and Shane West, which was acquired by Lionsgate. On the television side, she co-cast (with Atomic Honey) the TV adaptations of hit podcasts, THE EDGE OF SLEEP, alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (HONEY BOY), starring Markiplier, Lio Tipton and Eve Harlow and GASLIGHT alongside Emma Tillinger Koskoff (JOKER, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET) and Miles Joris Peyrafitte (DREAMLAND). In her spare time, she is an avid tennis and pickleball enthusiast.
REQUIREMENTS
You must have completed a Casting Access Application prior to registering for this class.
All members must show a valid SAG-AFTRA card when they check in for the class. No admittance will be granted without your current card or receipt.
NO LATE ARRIVALS are admitted. Only those participants who have received a telephoned or e-mailed confirmation message from staff will be admitted to the session. Waitlisted individuals who have not received such confirmation will not be admitted at the door. Please do not show up if you have not been explicitly confirmed as RSVPed.
Cancellations are required by midnight the night before a class. Cancellation can only be made via the website. You cannot cancel your RSVP via email or phone. Those who have been seated by the start date are expected to comply. You must cancel your reservation before the start date if you cannot comply, or you will face a six month ineligibility period. DO NOT BE LATE. Check-in begins 15 minutes to the class start time. If you arrive after the start time, you will not be admitted and it will be counted as a no-show.
Please note that the 30-day frequency restriction applies to this workshop. Your last frequency-restricted workshop must have taken place no less than 30 (thirty) days prior to this event to be eligible to register
