Synopsis:

Fearlessly yet humorously diving into everything from living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) to the undeniable appeal of burden-of-proof crime narratives, USA Network series MONK was well ahead of its time when it first aired nearly two decades ago. Now returning as an Original Peacock movie, MONK has orbited back right on time, radiating much-needed humanity and wit amid all the crises and discord around us.

In MR. MONK’S LAST CASE: A MONK MOVIE, humble detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shaloub) is still jittery from a rude pandemic awakening. Last we left him, he was on a promising road to recovery from an intensifying OCD, after solving the murder of his beloved wife Trudy (Melora Hardin), then tracking down her missing child, Molly Evans (Caitlin McGee). In present day, with his sleuthing days behind him, Monk is a dispirited, anxiety-ridden civilian, working on a book about his life’s achievements, while preparing for his stepdaughter Molly’s upcoming nuptials.

Of course, crime stops for no one. So Monk is reunited with his former cohorts, Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard) and Randy Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford) — both in town for Molly’s wedding — to investigate the misdoings of Rick Eden (James Purefoy), a charismatic billionaire entrepreneur–turned–budding space explorer. Expect plenty of Monk-y business, including an array of awkward encounters, curious plot-twists (among them, former police captain Leland Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) working for Eden), and stunt-astic action.

MR. MONK’S LAST CASE: A MONK MOVIE is created, written and executive produced by the original series creator, Andy Breckman. David Hoberman, Randy Zisk, who also directs, and Tony Shalhoub also executive produce. The movie is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
