Synopsis

Join us for an opportunity to ask your audiobook related questions to two of the most celebrated narrators working in the industry today. Lauren Fortgang and Gabriel Vaughan will be on hand for a fast-paced fun discussion and Q&A session on all things audiobooks. Come with questions. Leave with answers.

Requirements

Participants are encouraged to bring questions  to the session regarding the craft of narration and the audiobook industry. Participants must remain for the duration of the session.


Instructor Bios

Gabriel Vaughan Gabriel Vaughan has been narrating audiobooks for over ten years and has recorded hundreds of titles. Gabriel grew up in New England without a television at home and spent a lot of time listening to "books on tape” so narration has always felt like coming full circle. His wife and fellow narrator Piper Goodeve have narrated over 80 titles together. He has a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and is a classically trained actor studying in London at the British American Drama Academy. He is a founding member of the Tennessee Shakespeare Company and a member of the performers unions SAG-AFTRA & AEA. Gabriel won an Audie Award for narration in 2015 and was a finalist again in 2016, 2021and 2023. Gabriel also coaches narrators on using REAPER to self-record and offers home studio set-up consultations. www.gabrielvaughan.com

Lauren Fortgang Lauren Fortgang is an NYC based actor and voice over artist. She works regularly as an audiobook narrator for a vast roster of publishers and has voiced hundreds of titles, including works by Neil deGrasse Tyson, James Patterson, Joan Didion, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Louisa May Alcott, Leigh Bardugo, Ann M. Martin, R.L. Stine and Brené Brown. Other credits include video games (WoW; MTG), commercials (NY Lotto; Audible; Walmart), and audio journalism for Apple News+. Lauren is an Odyssey Honor Award, Audie Award and multiple-Earphones Award recipient whose work has been recognized by Audiofile Magazine, the Audio Publishers Association (APA), the American Library Association (ALA) and Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), School Library Journal, Library Journal, USA Today, Market Watch, Bustle, Forbes, Slate, Paste, and Publisher's Weekly.
