Seth MacFarlane:
Seth MacFarlane’s talents encompass every aspect of the entertainment industry. A true multi hyphenate, he is behind some of today’s most popular content in television, music, and film, having garnered five Emmys, five Grammy nominations and an Academy Award nomination.
At 24, MacFarlane became the youngest showrunner in television history when his animated series FAMILY GUY aired on Fox. Celebrating 25 years on the air, the show has garnered MacFarlane numerous nominations and five Emmy Awards, four of which being in the “Outstanding Voice-Over Performance” category, making him a tied record-holder for the most voice-over Emmy wins of all time. MacFarlane also serves as co-creator, executive producer and voice actor on the fan-favorite animated series AMERICAN DAD!, which just finished airing season 18.
Dedicated to producing content that shapes social conversation across a multitude of genres, MacFarlane’s production company Fuzzy Door has created an enviable portfolio of award-winning properties that connect global audiences through the lens of individual experiences. Under Fuzzy Door, MacFarlane created, executive produces and stars in Hulu’s Emmy nominated live-action space adventure series, THE ORVILLE. The series premiered to over 14 million viewers across all platforms. In 2020, MacFarlane executive produced Nat Geo and Fox’s COSMOS: POSSIBLE WORLDS. This second installment came off the heels of Fuzzy Door’s 21st century version of COSMOS: A SPACE TIME ODYSSEY, which MacFarlane also executive produced, and was seen by more than 135 million people worldwide and received 13 Emmy nominations.
In 2020, MacFarlane and his production company, Fuzzy Door, signed an impressive multi-year television deal with Universal Studio Group. Under the pact, the company released Peacock’s "Ted,” the prequel series to its commercially successful films of the same name. In January 2024, the series premiered to global success becoming the No. 1 original comedy series streaming in the US for two consecutive months, and Sky UK’s biggest US comedy launch in the last 20 years. Recently, it was announced that the series will be renewed for a second season.
MacFarlane also executive produced Peacock’s disaster science series THE END IS NYE hosted by Emmy Award winner and renowned science educator Bill Nye. Additionally, he is writing and executive producing THE WINDS OF WAR, a limited series from UCP based on Pulitzer Prize winner Herman Wouk’s acclaimed American War novels, an Untitled Little Rock Nine series, and the TV adaptations of Elan Mastai’s celebrated novel ALL OUR WRONG TODAYS and the dystopian sci-fi short film SKYWATCH. Outside of Universal, MacFarlane executive produced a new animated take on Norman Lear’s classic sitcom, GOOD TIMES, which premiered all 10 episodes in April 2024 on Netflix.
MacFarlane made his feature film directorial debut in 2012 with the then-highest-grossing original R-rated comedy film of all time, TED. In addition to voicing the lovable foul-mouthed teddy bear, MacFarlane co wrote and produced the film, which went on to make more than $545 million worldwide. Fresh off the success of TED and hosting “Saturday Night Live,” in 2013, MacFarlane hosted the 85th Academy Awards and was nominated for “Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song” for “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from TED. Due to its great success and cult following, the highly anticipated sequel, TED 2, was released in June 2015. In between both TED films, Universal released MacFarlane's western comedy A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST, which he wrote, produced, directed and starred in alongside an ensemble cast. MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door produced BOOKS OF BLOOD for
Hulu and are in development on a reimagined modern version of the REVENGE OF THE NERDS franchise with the Lucas Bros for 20th Century Studios, as well as a remake of THE NAKED GUN for Paramount starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.
As an actor, MacFarlane voiced “Mike,” a small mouse with a big Sinatra-esque voice, in Illumination Entertainment’s 2016 animated musical family comedy SING. These critically acclaimed albums have earned him five Grammy nominations, and several No. 1 debuts on the iTunes Jazz and New Release Jazz pages.
