SYNOPSIS

All voiceover performers work with microphones but very few understand how those microphones work. Join staff engineer Lana Migliore for a session that will help demystify this essential piece of audio equipment. In this session Lana will explain the basics of how microphones function and which kind of microphone is appropriate for which category of voiceover work. She will explore which models emphasize certain frequencies and which limit ambient noise. Lana will explain common jargon and help participants understand what those words mean in practical terms. Whether you are in the market for a microphone for your home studio or you are simply curious about the voiceover artists constant scene partner, you will leave this lecture with a better understanding and respect for this wonderful piece of audio technology.

Requirements

Participants must remain for the duration of the lecture. Participants must check-in during the 15 minute check-in period before the start of class. This class is VIRTUAL. Zoom Link will be sent via email at least 2 hours before the start of the session.
