SYNOPSIS
Animation is a popular voiceover category. From TV and streaming series' to feature films, Animation continues to grow and evolve. It wasn't that long ago when zany character voices dominated the genre, but these days, voiceover performances and character development have diversified and now include voiceover performances that are centered, real, authentic, emotional, grounded and more. Actors need to know the differences and understand how to access the varied voices in their actors's toolkit, to their animation performances shine.
In this class, Portia Scot (Director of Voiceover at Coast-to-Coast Talent Group) will utilize her "Method on the Mic" Technique to help actor's make important additions to "The Actor's Toolkit." She will teach you how to develop those tools and build skills around pre-life, substitution, sensory work, personalization and through questions. These are techniques designed to help actors prepare for auditions and performances.
INSTRUCTOR BIO
Portia Scott
Portia Scott is a pioneer in the Voiceover arena in Hollywood! She has over 25 years of experience as a Voiceover agent and is the only African American woman leading one of the top divisions in the industry, as the Director of Voiceover at Coast-to-Coast Talent Group in Los Angeles. Along with her talented team, she represents both adult and youth talent in all areas of voiceover. Her client roster is among the top talent in the industry having worked on animated Academy Award® & Golden Globe® awarded films such as Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio and Toy Story 4. Further recent notable animation feature credits include Space Jam: A New Legacy, Raya and the Last Dragon, Over the Moon, Wish Dragon, Into The Spider Verse, Blue’s Big City Adventure, AINBO: Spirit of the Amazon, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, Abominable, Inside Out, UP and Frozen.
Portia has secured client roles on animated television series on Disney, Nickelodeon, Netflix, Cartoon Network, Marvel, HBO, Paramount+, Pixar TV, LucasFilm/TV and DreamWorks Animation,
