Ted McGinley’s iconic career spans over four decades.
He is best known for his beloved portrayals of the Bundys’ neighbor ‘Jefferson D’Arcy’ for seven successful seasons on the hit series MARRIED…WITH CHILDREN and as ‘Stan Gable’ in the REVENGE OF THE NERDS franchise.
McGinley can currently be seen as fan-favorite “Derek” alongside Harrison Ford and Jason Segel in season 2 of the Apple TV+ hit series SHRINKING. NPR’s Linda Holmes praised McGinley’s performance as, “a confident, knowing bit of work, and maybe the best-ever use of [McGinley’s] talent,” and was hailed by multiple critics as one of the cast’s strongest assets.
His other extensive television credits include THE BAXTERS, HOPE AND FAITH, THE WEST WING, SPORTS NIGHT, DYNASTY, THE LOVE BOAT, HAPPY DAYS, MOM, MAD MEN, PSYCH, EVENING SHADE, PERFECT STRANGERS, PLATONIC, and the Hallmark Channel hit trilogy THE NOTE, THE BRIDGE, and THE BRIDGE 2. McGinley is a true southern California boy, born and raised in Newport Beach. Putting himself through college working as an ocean lifeguard, he attended the University of Southern California, where he was a two-time MVP and captain of the water polo team.
While shooting PHYSICAL EVIDENCE opposite Burt Reynolds, Reynolds invited McGinley to Jupiter, Florida to do a play with stage legends Ossie Davis and Joe Silver. It was there that Ted met his wife of over 30 years, actress Gigi Rice. They have two sons and currently reside in Los Angeles.
