Synopsis
Because of its complexity and steep learning curve, recording audiobooks with REAPER requires a considerable amount of setup and configuration but that is also the beauty of recording audiobooks with REAPER. You can configure REAPER to work, act and look the way YOU want it to.
Join audiobook narrator and REAPER enthusiast James Romick for a session in which he will his share methodology, techniques, tips and tricks developed from self-recording audiobooks with REAPER for over a decade. This session will delve into the logic of recording an entire book on one track as well as how and why to create a loop of clean room tone. James will show participants how to create a repeatable template, how to render mastered .wav files and then covert those files into mp3 files. He will share useful preference and project settings as well as demonstrate how to create keyboard short cuts and custom actions. This session will also provide helpful information on file management.
IMPORTANT: This is an ADVANCED CLASS for narrators and voiceover artists who use, are familiar with, or have switched to REAPER from another DAW to record audiobooks in their home studios and wish to improve their understanding and practical application of this powerful DAW.
INSTRUCTOR BIO
James Romick
James Romick has been a member of SAG-AFTRA since 1980. Between acting gigs in the mid 1980s, James also studied audio engineering at The Institute of Audio Research in NYC when editing analog magnetic tape with a splicing block and razor blade was the norm. Although he has a working knowledge of many different DAWs, James prefers to record VO and his audiobooks with REAPER.
Requirements
This is an ADVANCED CLASS for narrators and voiceover artists who use, are familiar with, or have switched to REAPER from another DAW to record audiobooks in their home studios and wish to improve their understanding and practical application of this powerful DAW. Members are required to stay for the duration of the session.
