Synopsis
Struggling with male/female dialogue? Break into a flop sweat when you have to voice a child? Can't seem to find the POV in your narration?
Join multi-award winning talent, Suzanne Toren, for an intermediate level audiobook workshop. Participants are asked to identify a specific challenge or question that has arisen in their work as a narrator. Participants will select material for class that provides an opportunity to tackle that challenge hands-on. Copy should be no more than 2 minutes. All participants will read and receive feedback from the instructor. Come warmed-up and ready to dive in!
Requirements
This is an intermediate level class. Participants must have narrated at least 2 audiobooks to join the session. Participants must bring a piece of copy from a book that is 2 minutes or less. Copy should be chosen with the intention of trouble shooting a specific area of craft that is presenting a challenge. Participants must remain for the duration of the session.
Instructor bio
Suzanne Toren is an actor who has appeared on and off Broadway, and in regional theatres, in works by well-known playwrights (from Shakespeare and Moliere to Arthur Miller and Neil Simon), as well as new ones. Over a period of several decades, she has narrated over 1000 audio books for most major publishers. She has received multiple Audie nominations and many industry awards, including Narrator of the Year and Best Voices of the Year.
In 2019, she was honored as a “Golden Voice” by Audiofile Magazine for “career achievements and invaluable contributions to the world of audiobooks.”. Making beautifully crafted writing come alive is her passion; she is honored and thrilled to have been able to earn a living doing it.
