Synopsis

This class is specifically designed for members who are familiar with self-recording but are considering switching DAWs to REAPER.

Why make the switch? REAPER is a rich and stable, no subscription but inexpensive, incredibly powerful and highly configurable recording platform. Join REAPER enthusiast and sought after audiobook narrator James Romick for a demonstration on how to set up and use this powerful platform to record your voiceovers and audiobooks from download, to configuration, to recording, to rendering .mp3s – with a few tricks and tips (Punch & Roll, Ripple Editing, Markers & Regions) thrown in for good measure.

Format

This session will consist of a demonstration with ample time for all of your burning questions. Each participant will receive a PDF outline to follow along with, which will include clickable resource links for further study.

Requirements

All levels are welcome to attend as this class will start with installation of REAPER but be advised REAPER has a steep learning curve and may prove challenging to complete beginners. Participants must remain for the 2.5 hour duration.

Instructor Bio

James Romick has been a member of SAG-AFTRA since 1980.  Between acting gigs in the mid 1980s, James also studied audio engineering at The Institute of Audio Research in NYC when editing analog magnetic tape with a splicing block and razor blade was the norm. Although he has a working knowledge of many different DAWs, James is a REAPER devotee.
