SYNOPSIS
Join award winning audio talent and sought after coach Jayme Mattler for a hands-on foundational class open to narrators of all levels. In this two and half hour session Jayme will explore the three tenets she deems necessary for stellar narration: comprehension, authenticity and emotional connection. No matter if you are new to the industry or an audiobook veteran, Jayme will guide you to a grounded place so you can find your voice in the author's words. This class will have a lecture section and a section where each student will receive individual direction. Students are required to provide their own copy (see REQUIREMENTS for details).
INSTRUCTOR BIO
Jayme Mattler
Jayme Mattler is an audio director, producer, engineer, and actor. She has worked in cartoon VO, ADR, commercials, and narration. In her extensive audiobook career, she's worked on over 1000 audiobooks, with many Audie nominations and wins, as well as 2 Grammy nominations for Astrophysics for People in a Hurry (Neil de Grasee Tyson) and American Grown (Michelle Obama). She's worked in some capacity for all the major publishers, including Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, Hachette, Blackstone, Audible, and more.
REQUIREMENTS
Participants must remain for the 2.5 hour duration of this session. Participants must bring their own copy to class. Please select one page from a book published in the last ten years. No classics, poems or children's books. Please choose material that is right for your voice. Any genre or POV is welcome. A selection with both narration and dialogue is preferred.
