SYNOPSIS

There are more opportunities in promo VO for actors of all voice prints and backgrounds than ever. But the subtleties and nuances of working reads require ever more from us as actors. The primary focus of this class will be to get students into the booth to receive feedback and direction. Marie and Jack also will briefly examine current trends, examples, and strategies for developing your read and finding work in VO promo.


INSTRUCTOR BIOS

Marie Westbrook

Starting out as a physics major, a Space Camp counselor, and an 8th-grade science teacher, Marie unexpectedly entered the world of acting. She started her voice over career in Seattle in 2005, voicing a trailer for the game, Nintendogs. An audition that was sent through her on-camera agent.  Not long after, Marie relocated to Los Angeles, where a major role in Star Wars: The Old Republic. led her to shift her focus from on-camera work to voice-over. Her career spans from video games, to commercials, anime, animation, narration, promo, and trailer. With notable roles in games and anime, including Microsoft Flight Simulator, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. She has also recently entered the con world. You can hear Marie in countless commercials and promos, including the campaigns for Star Wars: Ahsoka and new ABC hit, High Potential. Marie is among the few women making strides in the trailer world, with credits including Lightyear and the Oscar-winning film Women Talking. Despite her busy career, one of Marie’s favorite roles remains being a mother to her 6 and 8-year-old children. She is always in pursuit of a healthy work/life balance and is grateful for the opportunity to show her kids that it’s possible to have a successful career doing something you love.


Jack Daniel

Jack Daniel is a SAG-AFTRA voice actor who works in network and affiliate TV promo, movie trailers, commercials, corporate narration, radio imaging, and documentary/in-show narration. Jack is proud to voice for ABC in New York and is the promo voice of CBS/Paramount’s “The Harper House” as well as multiple shows on TBS and The Weather Channel. Jack voices many spots for ESPN, MLB, NHL, NCAA Football, Nickelodeon, and NBC Sports. In trailer, Jack has voiced trailers for such movies as The Instigators, The First Omen, Golda, Pinocchio, Jackass Forever, The Suicide Squad, Ford v. Ferrari, The Witches, Birds of Prey, The Good Liar, Men in Black, Stuber, and Super Troopers, among many others. His commercial VO includes national campaigns for Jack in the Box, Old Spice, Shelter Insurance, and Publisher’s Clearing House. Jack’s narration work includes Investigation Discovery’s “Murder Loves Company,” TruTV's "Top Secret Videos," and ABC daytime. He’s also voiced game trailers for such properties as “Evil Dead: The Game.” You may also have heard his voice in movies such as "Elvis," “Being the Ricardos,” and “Ad Astra.”

Class materials (if applicable) will be provided by the Voiceover Lab.

Small l group format with a maximum of 16 participants.

Audit seats will be offered, as well. Auditors can attend a class, but will not be readers in the class, unless an RSVP seat opens.  At that point we will fill the open RSVP seat(s) with someone someone that is an Auditor.

Note: The new Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab is not on the Mezzanine Level, it is on the Penthouse (PH) Level.   No need to wait downstairs, just go  straight to the PH level when you arrive.
