Populating 'Paradise': How to Create and Fill a World with Characters

Join us for a 60-minute panel with casting director Josh Einsohn, co-executive producer/writer John Hoberg & actor Jon Beavers as they discuss creating and populating the world of 'Paradise,' moderated by Laura Linda Bradley.

Josh Einsohn:

Josh Einsohn, CSA, started his career working in Production but made the move to Casting in 2001 and fell in love with that part of the TV & Film industry. He recently received his first Emmy nomination for 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story' (Netflix). Other recent projects include the Emmy-nominated 'Paradise' (Hulu), 'Grotesquerie' (Hulu), and 'Me' (Apple+). He also received Artios nominations from the CSA for his work on 'This Is Us' (NBC) and 'Love, Victor' (Hulu). Earlier projects include 'Community' (NBC), 'Atypical' (Netflix), 'One Day At A Time' (Netflix), and some of his favorite gigs as an Associate Casting Director were 'Mad Men' (AMC) and the last three seasons of 'The West Wing' (NBC), which is where the love of episodic casting was solidified. Josh graduated cum laude with a degree in Drama from Washington University in St. Louis.

John Hoberg:

John Hoberg has been a professional screenwriter for nearly 30 years. He currently serves as co-showrunner/EP on Hulu’s Emmy-nominated series 'Paradise.' Before that he worked almost exclusively with his wife Kat Likkel, writing Pixar's Oscar-nominated movie 'Elemental' as well writing/producing TV comedies you’ve heard of including 'My Name is Earl,' 'Black-ish,' comedies only your odd friends have heard of like 'Better off Ted' and 'Galavant' and comedies nobody’s heard of like 'Life on a Stick.' He and Kat currently have a musical series in development with Dan Fogelman and Alan Menken at Disney+ and a Broadway musical in development with Michael Cassel Group. When not writing he and Kat spend most of their time in Solvang, CA with their two dogs and 6 goats. Yep, 6 goats. Let’s just say their pandemic got weird.

Jon Beavers:

Jon Beavers is a California based actor best known for the role of Agent Billy Pace in Hulu's Emmy nominated 'Paradise.'

Jon recently starred in the first two installments of Kevin Costner's ongoing film series 'Horizon: An American Saga' in which he portrays the eldest and most imposing of the infamous Sykes Brothers.

Additional film credits include PTA's 'Licorice Pizza,' Blumhouse's terrifying social commentary 'Soft & Quiet' and Vertical Entertainment’s 'The Only One' which he also co-produced.

His major television roles include TNT's 'Animal Kingdom,' NBC's 'Bel-Air,' Apple TV’s 'Sugar' and Nat Geo's acclaimed miniseries 'The Long Road Home.'

Jon can next be seen in Apple’s upcoming feature 'Being Heumann' directed by Oscar winner Siân Heder ('CODA') which tells the story of activist Judy Heumann’s struggle to secure civil rights for disabled Americans in the 1970’s.
