SYNOPSIS

Join REAPER devotee James Romick for an introduction to one of the most versatile and popular digital audio recording software programs for use in home studios. This session will cover how to download and install REAPER. How to change some of its preferences and screen settings to be more VO friendly, set-up tracks and repeatable project templates, record takes, edit errors non-destructively  and render files.

Familiarity with some sort of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) will be helpful. But prior knowledge of REAPER is not necessary.

REAPER does possess a rather steep learning curve. All levels are welcome, but this session may prove challenging to members who are brand new to self-recording. Clickable resources and a video of the session will be provided to all attendees post-class.

FORMAT

Lecture with demonstration and a Q&A

INSTRUCTOR BIO

James Romick

James Romick has been a member of SAG-AFTRA since 1980.  Between acting gigs in the mid 1980s, James also studied audio engineering at The Institute of Audio Research in NYC when editing analog magnetic tape with a splicing block and razor blade was the norm. Although he has a working knowledge of many different DAWs, James prefers to record VO and his audiobooks with REAPER. Take this session and learn why.
