Join us for a 90-minute Career Retrospective of actor Paul Dooley, moderated by Scott Mantz.

BIO:

Paul Dooley is a character actor with a seven-decade career. He is best remembered as the hilarious dad in the film Breaking Away, and as Molly Ringwald’s father in Sixteen Candles. Since then, he has played Dad to Julia Roberts, Toni Collette, Hillary Swank, Mia Farrow, Philip Seymour Hoffman and many others. 

He has been featured in five Robert Altman movies, including A Wedding, A Perfect Couple, Health, and Popeye, starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall, playing the part of the hamburger-loving “Wimpy,” and can also be seen in several Christopher Guest movies, including Waiting for Guffman.

Other film credits include Runaway Bride, Hairspray, and Insomnia. His TV credits include roles on Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Good Doctor, Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, My So-Called Life, thirtysomething and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. 

Paul has been Emmy-nominated twice for Best Supporting Actor, for The Practice and Dream On. He recently published his memoir, Movie Dad, available now from Applause Books.
