SYNOPSIS

In this Advanced Casting Class, casting director Gabriel Domingues ('The Secret Agent') will be working with selected actors in a live and observed work session. This will be preceded by a brief conversation on her career and will be followed by an audience Q&A.

Bio: 

Gabriel Domingues was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is a casting director, researcher, and screenwriter. He holds a degree in Film from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, including a semester abroad at the University of Salamanca (Spain).


He began his career as a casting assistant on the feature film Aquarius (2016), directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho. Since then, he has worked as casting director on several acclaimed Brazilian films, including The Fever (A Febre), directed by Maya Da-rin; Divine Love (Divino Amor), by Gabriel Mascaro; and All the Dead Ones (Todos os Mortos), by Marco Dutra and Caetano Gotardo.

In television, he served as casting director for the series New Bandits (Cangaço Novo), produced by O2 Filmes for Amazon Prime Video, and City of God: The Fight Rages On (Cidade de Deus), produced by O2 Filmes for HBO Max.

In 2025, he was responsible for the casting of three major feature films: A Melhor Mãe do Mundo, directed by Anna Muylaert; O Último Azul, by Gabriel Mascaro; and The Secret Agent (O Agente Secreto), directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, for which he was shortlisted in the new Casting Category for the 98th Academy Awards. He also worked as casting director on the Netflix series Pssica, directed by Fernando Meirelles.

As a screenwriter, he co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film Body Electric, directed by Marcelo Caetano, as well as Caetano’s most recent project, Baby. He is also one of the screenwriters of the feature film Yellow Cake, directed by Tiago Melo, selected for the 2026 International Film Festival Rotterdam.

As a researcher and assistant director, he has collaborated with artists Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca on their two most recent projects in Brazil: Swinguerra and Fala da Terra.
