Join us for an panel discussion on the history and legacy of queer storytelling and the impact that great filmmaking has had now and in the past, on the culture at-large.

This panel will include Jen Tullock (Severance), River Gallo (Poniboy), Celeste Yim (SNL) and Hari Nef (Barbie)

Jen Tullock currently stars as “Devon” on the hit Apple TV+ series SEVERANCE, opposite Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette for director Ben Stiller. In addition, she stars as “Anita” on HBO’s PERRY MASON, opposite Juliet Rylance. She recently wrote and performed off-Broadway in her one woman show, NOTHING CAN TAKE YOU FROM THE HAND OF GOD. On the feature side, Jen recently starred opposite Will Ferrel, Ryan Reynolds and Octavia Spencer in SPIRITED, a musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol. Previously she starred opposite Judith Light and Mandy Patinkin, in BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, which she co-wrote with frequent collaborator Hannah Pearl Utt. The film premiered in competition at Sundance where it was acquired and later released by 1091. Their short film PARTNERS also previously debuted at Sundance. While juggling guest roles on CASUAL, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, and SMILF, Jen co-created, wrote, and starred with Hannah in the web series DISENGAGED. Released on Super Deluxe where it received rave reviews, the pilot alone reached over one million views. Jen also starred in the Short of the Week selection RED LIGHT. 

River Gallo (they/them) is a GLAAD award-winning Salvadoran-American filmmaker, actor, writer, model and intersex activist from New Jersey. They are a recipient of the 2019 GLAAD Media Rising Star Award, the 2020 Ryan Murphy HALF Initiative for television directing, a 2021 Berlinale Talent fellow, and was selected as part of the inaugural Sundance Institute Trans Possibilities Intensive. River’s work explores the dynamics of personal and confessionary storytelling, and media's ability to transcend human consciousness via re-envisioning underrepresented narratives... Ponyboi which they wrote, starred in, and co-directed with Sadé Clacken Joseph premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival where it was named one of the “Five not to be missed short films” by Forbes. Ponyboi is the first narrative film created by and starring an out intersex person in cinema history. Executive produced by Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson. River has collaborated and modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch, Birchbox Beauty, Maison Margiela, and made their New York Fashion Week debut walking for Chromat’s FW2021 show. They were named one of the “Most Exciting Queer People to Follow” by Out Magazine, PAPER Magazine’s list of “100 People Taking Over 2019”, and were the cover star of the 2019 Fall/Winter issue UK Hunger Magazine shot by RANKIN. They are currently developing Ponyboi as a feature film. River received their BFA in Drama at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Experimental Theatre Wing and their MFA In Film/Tv Production from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. They are based in Los Angeles and New York. 

Celeste Yim is an Emmy and WGA award-nominated playwright and stand-up comedian who won the prestigious Canadian Women Artists Award and has a knack for elevated comedy. Celeste was a 2021 Lambda Literary Playwriting Fellow and the 2019 recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Canadian Women Artists’ Award for Playwriting. They are currently a member of Youngblood at Ensemble Studio Theatre. Celeste is also a member of the Television Academy, The Writers Guild of America, and The Dramatists Guild of America. They are an alumnus of the National MFA Playwrights Festival produced by Theater Masters and the Bob Curry Fellowship at The Second City Toronto. Celeste received a B.A. from Trinity College at the University of Toronto and an M.F.A. from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Celeste was a writer and co-producer for season 2 of LIFE & BETH on Hulu, as well as a Supervising Writer for five seasons on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Celeste is currently a Supervising Producer on Apple TV’s hour long series, THE DEALER, starring Jessica Chastain and Adam Driver.


This panel will be a 60 minute moderated panel followed by 20 minutes audience questions.
