Synopsis
In animation voiceover, every audition begins with the sides — but not every set of sides gives you the same amount of information. Some auditions include detailed character art, project summaries, tone notes, and full character bios. Others may offer only a few lines of dialogue and a single sentence of direction.
This workshop focuses on how to confidently break down any set of sides, whether you’re working with a fully developed character brief or almost no information at all. Using real-world audition techniques drawn from professional animation voiceover experience, participants will learn how to analyze the text for clues about personality, age, emotional life, rhythm, point of view, and vocal placement. The class will explore how to generate strong, original character choices, develop distinct voices, and make bold audition decisions even when the material is minimal.
Actors will leave with practical tools for building compelling animated characters from the page and a repeatable process they can apply to future auditions in animation, television, feature films, and video games.
