Synopsis
Ever felt like you nailed an animation audition only to not book the role? Or walked away from a recording session knowing you could’ve given a better performance? This is your opportunity to revisit those old animation scripts and rework them with direction from Emmy-winning voice director, casting director, and sought-after actor Charlie Adler.
In this session, Charlie will share tools and tips on connecting with the text, helping actors tap into their intuition and trust their creative impulses. Participants will learn how to unlock authenticity and deliver impactful animation auditions all while having a fantastically fabulous time!
Format and Requirements
This workshop will have a limited number of readers. Readers are required to provide their own sides. The sides should be from an animation audition or booking.
Once the reader list for this class is full, we will open the class to auditors.
If you wish to audit the class (ie learn and ask questions without reading), please add your name to the waitlist. All names on the waitlist for this class will be considered auditors.

Instructor Bio
Charlie Adler is an Emmy- winning voice director, casting director and award-winning actor. He was named “Top 13 All Time Voice Over Artists” by Animation Magazine, “Voice of the Decade” by Animation World News and honored by SOVAS with a “Voice Arts Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2022. He was inducted as an NATAS Gold Circle Honoree at the 2025 Children & Family Emmy Awards to recognize his outstanding contributions during his 50 plus years in television.
Charlie's voice directing credits include: Blaze and the Monster Machines (Nick Jr); Unicorn Academy (Spin Master/ Netflix), Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny (Dream Works Animation Television) for which he earned one of his Emmy nominations. He has worked with Klasky Csupo, voice-directing all their franchise series and feature films including the Emmy-Award winning Rugrats series and The Wild Thornberrys. Charlie has voice directed A-list talent for top networks including Cartoon Network, Starz, Fox, MTV and Amazon.
As an actor Charlie has been a series regular in over 125 animation series, often playing opposite himself. He was nominated for an Annie Award for multiple roles as Cow, Chicken and the Red Guy in the Emmy nominated series Cow and Chicken. He has a long history with the Transformers franchise voicing multiple characters in the animated series, as well as Starscream in Michael Bay’s live action blockbuster. He has voiced iconic characters in Tiny Toon Adventures, Avengers Assemble, My Little Pony, Jem and the Holograms and was even an original Smurf.
Charlie has appeared on both stage and screen including a lead role on Broadway in Torch Song Trilogy which earned him a Helen Hayes Award for Best Actor and as a series regular on The Redd Foxx Show. In his youth Charlie was a familiar face in dozens of television commercials for McDonalds, IBM, GE, Big Red Gum and Safeguard Soap.
Charlie is also a teacher, a writer, a painter and an obsessive dog parent.
