SYNOPSIS

A practical, step-by-step approach to developing a personalized Voiceover audition process, from receiving the audition to confidently submitting the final file. Rather than focusing on audio engineering or equipment, this class centers on performance, preparation, self-awareness, and consistency.

Actors will learn how to build a repeatable workflow that supports authentic reads, faster decision-making, and a stronger understanding of their unique voice, their brand and how to build confidence in their work.. Through guided analysis, class feedback, and in-booth work, students will explore how to approach different types of auditions while staying grounded in who they are on the mic.

The class also examines current trends in commercial, network, and production styles, helping actors better understand how brands communicate and how to align your  performance with the tone and identity of a project.

By the end of the course, each actor will leave with a clearer sense of:

  • Their vocal identity and strengths.

  • How to efficiently break down and prepare auditions.

  • How to quickly evaluate and select takes.

  • When to stop overworking a read.

  • How to confidently submit the audition(s)and move on.

REQUIREMENTS

Know the cancellation deadline (see above).

Scripts will be distributed in class and provided by the Voiceover Lab.

There will be a limited number of actors working in the recording booth during the class.

Small group format with a maximum of 14 actors participating.

Auditors: There will be auditor seats available for the class.  Auditors are chosen from the Waitlist, so actors interested in auditing the class must add their name to the Waitlist.  Auditors are present for the instruction and interaction with the instructor and attendees, but auditors are not designated as readers.  However, if RSVP seats become available, auditors may be moved to the RSVP list and potentially become readers.  Auditors will be notified of the change before or during class.

Participants are expected to be present for the entire program.  See Duration above.
