INSTRUCTOR BIO

Andrew Geller

Born in New York before the turn of the century, Andy Geller knew from an early age that he wanted to be an actor or a musician having grown up on a diet of films and television like the 1968 version of Planet of the Apes and The Ed Sullivan Show to the music he heard coming from his older brother’s room…everything from the Beatles to Black Sabbath.

In college he got to use his love and knowledge of music at a job at the school’s radio station. It was here that Andy encountered a microphone for the first time.

Upon graduating from Emerson College in Boston, Andy worked as a radio disc jockey in cities across the East Coast and eventually moved to Los Angeles in the hopes of reuniting with a lost love. It was here he got a job at KLOS during the reign of The Mark and Brian Show which was number 1 in the city until Howard Stern came to town and took over in the ratings. Fortunately, it was not before an executive from FOX Television heard Andy’s voice on their show and reached out to his under-employed agent Steve Tisherman.

“Would Andy be interested in coming to the studio and reading some television promos for a new show on FOX?”

Andy auditioned and was hired to be the voice of the promos for Beverly Hills 90210. His voice work would continue with promos for ABC TV (Desperate Housewives, and LOST), as well as promos for UPN, CBS and UFC among many others.

The first movie trailer featuring Andy’s voice was Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time. He had brought shame to his family and it was only after being hired for Disney on pictures such as Toy Story 2 and The Sixth Sense was he allowed to use his last name again.  More movie trailer work followed with films including Armaggedon, Adam Sandler’s The Wedding Singer and the cult classic The Nice Guys featuring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

In 2004, Andy had the honor of being the announcer for the 76th Academy Awards.

Andy never became an actor or a musician and his lost love told him to lose her number but he did become incredibly successful as a voice over artist, made lots of money, bought a house and started a family, got divorced and lived happily ever after
