About our guest instructor...
Manuel Herrera is a veteran Producer/Director and Voice-Over Motivator with 37 years of experience, a highly sought after AudioBook Producer, and an increasingly influential person in the U.S. Spanish-language performing arts and publishing arenas. He began his acting career performing and studying in his native Dominican Republic, then moved to New York and joined Repertorio Español, the leading Spanish-language theater company in the U.S., where he acted in a wide range of classical and modern plays. His voice has lent life to countless commercials, many running concurrently in several U.S. markets, and to Spanish SAP (Secondary Audio Program) tracks for Nickelodeon, Showtime, Spike and HBO, to name a few. In addition to the above, Manuel Herrera has earned the respect of peers and associates as a trailblazer for his fellow Spanish-speaking actors in the U.S. As Spanish-language Director of Auditions for the now-defunct J. Michael Bloom & Associates talent agency, he helped cast a variety of commercials and industrials. As Special Projects Administrator at the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), he helps an upcoming generation of performers hone valuable marketable skills through the only professional Spanish-language voiceover workshops in the country and also serves as an advocate for actors’ rights. Many of the corporations now seeking to penetrate the lucrative Spanish-language market seek out Manuel Herrera’s valuable expertise as a combination quality control consultant, casting director and language specialist. In 2001, Manuel Herrera became the first Director of Spanish-Language Rights Acquisitions for Recorded Books, LLC. Dubbed “the founding father” of RB’s AudioLibros imprint by executive producer Claudia Howard, he was responsible for the production of over 300 titles. Now, Manuel works at DuArt Film and Video producing Spanish Audiobooks for clients globally.
